People of the Silence (The First North Americans series, Book 8)
I really enjoy this series in my oppion it is best to read the series starting with Book 1 so that you know what is being talked about. If you are a Indian or love to read about Indians and their history then this is a Great Series of Books to read. It gives great in sight to the beliefs of the Indian Nations and their ways of life.

People of the Fire (The First North Americans series, Book 2)
I've loved everything I've read by the Gears and I've read just about everything they have published. Wonderful interposing of fiction onto the facts! They use their expertise as anthropologists and as story tellers to combine what really has been found about North American Indians and interpose a very believable story onto it. They really make the past come alive! The inclusion of what has ...

People of the Lakes (The First North Americans series, Book 6)40 reviews
Kathleen O'Neal Gear, W. Michael Gear

Tor Books, 1995

Another homerun
But I have loved all the books in the series. That being said, this one was fabulous. They Gears do a good job of making the stories interesting and entertaining but if you are into the pre-history there is so much information in there well placed in broad daylight but it all blends together beautifully.

Grrrrreeeeeaaaattt!!!
This was the first book I found in the series. after reading it and discovering there were others I went searching. I found the list and read the first two....and reread them and read this one again. I am going to read the entire series. We get pounded with our european history and never hear of the history of our continent. I have always been curious about where did the great american tribes ...

The Betrayal: The Lost Life of Jesus: A Novel7 reviews
Kathleen O'Neal Gear, W. Michael Gear

Forge Books, 2008

Really, Really Good!
I really enjoyed this book. I am not really into novels,(historical, fantasy or otherwise)I tried to read a few, but they lose me along the way. When I picked this one up, I read It from cover to cover and I enjoyed the experience. It Is a very fast paced and griping story, and the non fiction 'end notes' are Iceing on the cake. Some people may get upset with the books conclusions but,It Is well ...

HOLD OFF READING THIS UNTIL YOU READ BELOW
THIS THE FIRST OF A WONDERFUL TRILOGY FULL OF WELL-RESEARCHED HISTORY, ANCIENT AND MODERN SOUTHWESTERN INDIAN MYSTICISM (A POINT LIKELY MISSED BY THOSE WHO WROTE THE CRITICISMS IN THEIR REVIEWS), MULTI-SUBPLOT MYSTERY, ROMANCE, AND A THOUGHT-PROVOKING WARNING FOR OUR "MODERN" SOCIETY, BOTH IN OUR MANAGEMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES AND OUR TREATMENT OF OUR CHILDREN. People of the Owl (The First North Americans Series)22 reviews
Kathleen O'Neal Gear, W. Michael Gear

Forge Books, 2004

Some books better than others...
...but really the whole series is fantastic. Again historical evidence and study went into forming the characters, with great success. The authors do a fabulous job painting a picture of what life was like and what was going on during the setting of the book. Can't wait until the next one.

Bone Walker: Book III of the Anasazi Mysteries19 reviews
Kathleen O'Neal Gear, W. Michael Gear

Tor Books, 2008

Bone Walker
I found myself in agreement with other readers in that the lives and times of Browser and Catkin are far more interesting than Dusty and Maureen's pathetic F'ed up 20th century existences. So, to get an expansive uninterrupted narrative simply skip the chapters pertaining to Dusty's unresolved childhood issues. That would be every other chapter if you're keeping score.

Kathleen O'Neal Gear, W. Michael Gear

Tor Books, 1998

One of their best.
This is one of their best novels, a gripping mystery with lots of character development. A very swift read.
