I Can Just Taste Them
This is a lovely story about a family of bears on an apple-picking day trip. The text has a nice rhyming rhythm that allows young children to pay attention and enjoy the story as much as older. We bought it last fall when my daughter was 15 months old - now she is 2 1/2 and it's still a favorite. There's a little blue bird that shows up on every page, too, so we enjoy looking for it. The bear ...

"Shrek The Third Is Unmatched And Beyond Expectations"
The best comedy-adventure in the Shrek series. Once you start reading you won't put it down. Shrek, Puss, and Donkey are on another action-filled adventure. This is a page-turning, hilarious and realistic adventure. It's worth the time and money.I highly recommend it!

A primary teacher's "must have" book
I am an elementary school librarian and this book addresses one of the basic questions asked by Kinders and First Graders. I bought two for the library and our primary teachers are now ordering their own. Can't lose on this one.

Following the map, Brown dug up a jawbone edged with six-inch long teeth, the remains of a monstrous creature no one had ever seen before. But one bone wasn?t enough, and Brown soon found himself in a desperate race to discover ...

Wonderful teaching tool!
My son received this when he was almost 4, and understood the concepts of solid, liquid, and gases by 4.5yo! This describes the concepts in such a way that youngsters can easily understand, but won't bore older children. I would highly recommend this book, along with other books in the "Let's-Read-And-Find-Out Science" series.

Ocean/Shells
This is a wonderful book that takes shell collecting to a greater depth. As you show a shell collection, use this book to illustrate to the children what used to live in a particular type of shell.

Basic Beginnings for Early Explorers
I am certainly not an Earth Scientist, but I can say that this book proves to be an excellent starting point for young children to grasp the basic understanding that the Earth itself is a lot more complex than one can see on the surface. The beginning story-line of children setting out for a mountain hike captures a child's interest from the start. The illustrations are imaginative and ...

Best book for fearful children!
This book was a lifesaver. After 2 years of tears at the doctors (and many tears before and after the visit)our daughter now looks forward to doctor visits. She feels very comfortable with all that will occur during the exam and is proud that she knows the names of all of the doctor's tools! I am purchasing some additional copies to give the the doctor's office for other children to read.

A wonderful series for all ages
My Aunt first introduced us to the Smithsonian Backyard series when my daughter was born in '94. Fawn at Woodland way came with a mini-sized animal to go along with the reading. Since then, many more titles have come out, and a couple of them also offer the stuffed animal. I have purchased six of these books for gifts and the kids all loved them. The stories are touching and the ...

Nicely written, Kid-friendly Dolphin story
This is a story about a newborn Bottleneck dolphin's first day in the ocean. It is nicely written and illustrated but the kid friendly story line takes away slightly from the factual information. Even so, both my children (2 year-old and 4 year-old) and I really enjoy this book and others in this "Smithsonian Ocean Series" especially Manatee Winter.

From the moment the very first animals?two small, bedraggled prairie dogs?arrived at the Bronx Zoo in 1899, history was being made. Zookeeping has steadily been evolving over the years: Today, animals that would once have been kept in iron cages roam freely in habitats similar to real prairies, jungles, and forests. With engaging animal photos and lively anecdotes, Wild Lives takes readers through a century of zookeeping at one of the ...

In "Roo's New Baby-sitter," Kanga tells Roo that she's going out on a shopping trip. Roo wants to go with her, but Kanga tells her that he's going to stay home and have a babysitter. And that babysitter is... that silly old bear --- Winnie the Pooh! Pooh does his best to babysit Roo, but the truth is he's not really sure what a babysitter does.
