Beautifully Written True Crime
I only recently became aware of Kathryn Casey when I read her outstanding SHE WANTED IT ALL. THE RAPIST'S WIFE is just as outstanding. It is about Diane Martinez who, after she marries James Bergstrom, finds herself in an increasingly abusive marriage to a rapist. As opposed to many true crime books, THE RAPIST'S WIFE is written in linear fashion, so the reader does not know the outcome of the ...

Well-written
This story moved along at an even pace up until the investigational phase of the murder when things really started moving along. I had to actually make myself put the book down and go to sleep. Some books drag with courtroom drama but in this one, there was just enough to keep the story interesting even during that phase.

Bone-chilling story of a real psychopath
I didn't read this book until after I'd read this author's other book that came out last year, She Wanted It All. Loved that book and decided to try this one. Gotta tell you, this one is pricey, but it's a great book. It's this author's first and she did a bang-up job on it. Really amazing detail, psychological insight. Fascinating case. I'd recommend it to anyone who reads true crime, mysteries, ...

terrific Texas police procedural
In his Galveston beach house, someone murders affluent Houston businessman Edward Travis Lucas III and his apparent lover attorney Annmarie Knowles; the killer placed the bodies in ritualistic way to maximize the scandal; thius pointing elsewhere. Galveston and Houston Police Departments claim pieces of the investigation; the Texas Rangers and the FBI also insist they have jurisdiction. In ...

Readable True Crime Story
I have enjoyed all of Ann Rule's books, and find this author to be almost as good. This true story is even more gripping than fiction.

Great True Crime Writing
My true crime reading habit started years ago with classics such as In Cold Blood by Truman Capote, and Helter Selter, by Vincent Bugliosi. Much as I would like to quit the habit, books such as A Descent into Hell keep me turning the pages. I offest the subject matter with spiritual memoir reading and angel oracle decks. Be forewarned, this case is graphic and horrible but Casey has a way of ...

Great True Crime
This book was well written and almost all the words were spelled correctly (a problem in some true crime books). The story was scary and the author made it believable. It wasn't a rehash of newpaper articles on the crime (also another problem with true crime books, in my opinion). Very good read.

She Wanted It All
Being a true crime sleuth, I used to think Ann Rule was the best true crime writer ever. This book wiped my thought on that completely away. This author had such an amazing way of telling a great story, kept the book flowing from one page to the other, had amazing details about all of the characters. It felt like I was actually there witnessing it all myself. And the courtesy photos were superb ...
