Fantastic
I picked up a baby book when my wife first got pregnant and as at the time it all seemed along way off, I couldn't stick with any - frankly it all seemed a bit too much. I picked this up at the start of the third trimester and devoured it in days - all of a sudden reality and humour replaced dread. I realised I was on to something. It is pragmatically divided in to sections like Bottoms, ...

Funny and great book!
I read this book then purchased it as gifts for several friends. Its written by an Australian author who uses amusing and straight forward language to illustrate how media and other influences impact our self esteems and how to begin to deal with it. This book is well-written and is a great book for people who want to have a realistic and balanced perspective on their bodies.

Funny and gentle introduction for 1st time pregnancy
I bought this book while living abroad in Africa. I didn't have a clue about pregnancy and was totally overwhelmed and frightened by the whole experience. The LAST thing I needed was Dr. Spock textbooks or touchy feely earth mother jibe. I felt icky in my first trimester and, living abroad, really needed something practical and empathetic, and this book hit the spot. The author doesn't take ...

Hmmmm....sashimi
I ordered this book months ago when on a quest to find a definitive book on sashimi. My husband as I are sashimi addicts. It's so good. It's fresh. It's also expensive. A meal out can run anywhere from $65 to $150. And with dining out 6-8 times a month, that expense needed to be curbed. I wasn't willing to give up sashimi. At the same time, I feared shopping and handling my own fish. ...

At long last!
Let me say up front, I am not an unbiased reviewer. I have been a close friend of the author's since the early 60's and can attest to her love of this topic. However, I think I can offer some insight to the work and its value in the study of Chinese art objects. The purpose of this book is to decode the intensely rich visual vocabulary of Chinese art. While paintings, ceramics, and virtually ...

Wonderfully deviant
My Standard Operating Procedure for reading Kaz's "Underworld" is to flip through until I read a page that makes me say out loud "Oh, my God! That's horrible!" Then I put it away for a couple of days until the mood strikes me to flip through it once again. Give copies to all your friends and family and watch with glee as they slowly realize you are not who they thought you were...

Look closely here. Kaz is showing us something.
All the great "cartoonists" see behind appearances. Whether they see something funny or wicked hidden there, or just a great empty void, the measure of their talent - their ability to show us - has something to do with poetry. Never doubt for a moment that when Kaz strolls down the streets of his City for a taco & a beer, he's also storing away a poet's catalogue, which he releases into his ...

Rocks Into Gold is an exhibition of site-specific sculptures by Zhan Wang, one of China's most celebrated contemporary artists. Great book - don't buy from Amazon!
I ordered this book about 4 months ago from Amazon, and after 2 delay notices, I just rec'd a message that "Though we had expected to be able to send this item to you, we've since found that it is not available from any of our sources at this time." So do not order this book from Amazon, but get it somewhere else - it is terrific.

Must have during pregnancy
This book is fantastic from the start of your pregnancy. It has lots of factual information about the babies growth, what to expect etc but the great part is the funny parts about what is happening to the lady in the story. You will laugh and cry at the same time (especially as you know its true but don't want to admit to half of it!!) It has fantastic insights into the world of the pregnant - I'm ...
