Cat Tricks1 review
Keith Baker

Voyager Books, 2000

My sons loved this book!
This is an excellent book for preschoolers. Toddlers love the repetition and bright pictures, and preschoolers really enjoy the creative transitions in the illustrations and the easy-to-read phrases. My oldest son liked this book so much when he checked it out of the library, I had to order a copy for him to keep!

Inventing the French Revolution `: Essays on French Political Culture in the Eighteenth Century (Ideas in ...1 review
Keith Michael Baker

Cambridge University Press, 1990

Brilliant scholarly history, but a very dense read
Keith Michael Baker is a highly esteemed historian (previously at U. of Chicago, now at Stanford) of the Enlightenment and the French Revolution. This book is a collection of essays that are unified by their subject matter, which can be described as "the intellectual and ideological origins of the French Revolution". A few of these essays are more historiographical/theoretical in nature. That ...

Incredible insight. K.D.Baker is masterful!!!!
Nothing could be said that could justify the price - one could say that the book is priceless.

The Magic Fan7 reviews
Keith Baker

Voyager Books, 1997

The Magic Fan
This beautifully illustrated Japanese fable by Keith Baker has long been one of my favorite children's books. I am a music teacher of young children and at the end of their first grade classes with me, we turn "The Magic Fan" into a musical movie, complete with costumes, children playing instruments copying Japanese instruments, dancing girls, script, Yoshi, singing of "Sakura" (a Japanese ...

Elephants Aloft5 reviews
Kathi Appelt

Voyager Books, 1997

"Elephants Aloft" and the joy of prepositions for kids
A preposition is a "function" word that typically combines with a noun phrase to form a phrase which usually expresses a modification or predication. However, in "Elephants Aloft" prepositions like "above," "between," and "below" are not combined with noun phrases but rather with delightful illustrations of elephants in a balloon. Now, if a picture of a pair of elephants in a balloon is worth a ...

Graeme Base

Harry N Abrams, 1995

Billiantly Beautiful
This is definitely the best picture i have ever read to my children and i would recomend it to all parents and children alike. It makes you smile and feel so content and happy as you reach the last page. The illustrations, superb, the story, edge of your seat stuff. Recommend t for everyone, young and old.

More Mr. and Mrs. Green3 reviews
Keith Baker

Topeka Bindery, 2005

Fun for the young
My 7 year old loved this book. He liked it so much that he asked to order another of the Mr. and Mrs. Green books. What was super about this book is that it throws in fun information about many subjects (math, art, and vocabulary) without the reader even noticing it! Pretty, happy illustrations, too.

The Dove's Letter1 review
Keith Baker

Harcourt, 1988

Beautiful valentine story
How priceless and rare to be loved. In Keith Baker's story, the dove's tender letter awakens in each person who reads it the realization that he is loved. The language and illustrations in this book have had the same effect on students in grades K-12 with whom I have shared the book. A beautiful valentine story. It is fun to follow the reading with the making of woven valentines.

City of Stormreach (Dungeons & Dragons d20 3.5 Fantasy Roleplaying, Eberron Supplement)1 review
Keith Baker, Nicolas Logue, ...

Wizards of the Coast, 2008

Essential for your Xendrik campaign
Based on the Dungeons and Dragons Online PC game, this book takes a very detaled look at the inner workings of the only civilized town on the wild continent of Xendrik. Don't let the civilized part fool you, though. Stormreach can be as dangerous as the ruins, jungles, and desert which surround it. Keith Baker (creator of the Eberron campaign setting), and the other authors of this book delve ...

WHO IS THE BEAST?8 reviews
Keith Baker

Harcourt Brace, 1990

Who is the beast?
This is a true picture book-as the pictures tell the story beyond the words. The illustrations go the distance for story time reading, as well as working for up close inspection (be sure to look for that unconcerned snail on every page!). I just never tire of this book and its illustrations, and I have been a fan of it for six years. The illustration of carp, tiger, and jungle folliage ...

Keith Baker, Bill Slavicsek, ...

Gloom5 reviews
Keith Baker

Atlas Games, 2005

Brilliant and Creative
Brilliant concept. It didn't work for my wife, though; she just didn't get it and didn't want to. I've tried to bring it out a few times since, but just can't generate interest. My conclusion on the game is this: If you enjoy beauty and brilliance in-and-of-themselves, you'll probably like the game. If you think there should be a purpose to beauty and brilliance, then it may not fly for you.

Meet Mr. and Mrs. Green1 review
Keith Baker

Spotlight, 2007

Wonderful Series
Mr. and Mrs. Green are a delightful series of books. The chapters of this book give many examples of problems and solutions. A great series to follow George and Martha.

Sharn: City of Towers (Dungeons & Dragons d20 3.5 Fantasy Roleplaying, Eberron Supplement)7 reviews
Keith Baker, James Wyatt

Wizards of the Coast, 2004

Great Book - Index available
I would agree with the other reviewers in that this book is an excellent buy but for it not having an index. Luckily, the author of the book, Keith Baker, has been putting together a detailed index on his website. You can download it for free here: http://www.bossythecow.com/sharnindex.htm The NPC, Locations, Services, and Organizations sections have been put together with the rest, I ...

Hide and Snake6 reviews
Keith Baker

Demco Media Inc, 1995

Lots of Fun for our Toddler
Our boy Alex loves this book, even at a year and a half old. He frequently picks it out of a stack of books and brings it to us to read to him. We spend a lot of time on each page so that he can find the snake's head. The pictures are beautifully colored and filled with lots of curious details. It is one of the few books that keep him so interested that he often wants us to go through it ...

Little Green6 reviews
Keith Baker

Scholastic, 2002

A delightful book!
A beautiful little book to add to any collection. I bought this for my four-month old and he loves to look at the colorful pages. The words introduce rhythm, rhyme, and alliteration magically. An older toddler would also enjoy trying to find the caterpillar hidden among all the pages!

Lucky Days with Mr. and Mrs. Green1 review
Keith Baker

Spotlight, 2007

more fun with Mr and Mrs Green
The alligator couple, Mr and Mrs Green are back in More Mr and Mrs Green and they are ready for 3 new adventures. In the first adventure Mrs. Green has lost pearls and it's up to "Detective" Mr. Green to find them. What is 19x2x2x4x25=7,600 plus 317? It equal the number of jelly beans in the jar that Mr. Green wins in the guessing game in the second story. The last story is about a talent ...

Occult Lore (Penumbra/D20)1 review
Keith Baker, Adam Bank, ...

Atlas Games, 2002

An excellent d20 RPG resource!
This book while set in the 3.0 version of the d20 system is still an excellent piece of work. It offers new systems of magic for any d20 fantasy setting. I particulary found the section on herbalism to be great. The fact the book gives a selection of plants is also very nice. It also offers interesting features such as Sympathetic magic, Astology, Geomancy, and Alchemy. All in all it does'nt ...

What's Left of Enlightenment? A Postmodern Question1 review

Stanford University Press, 2001

A Brilliant Anthology
This remarkable book reexamines the intellectual history of eighteenth century France and Germany in order to bring to light a richer, more nuanced view of this pivotal period. More specifically, many writers, commonly characterized as "post-modernist," have used the European Enlightenment as a "whipping boy" in order to promote their own vision of the history of ideas. The editors use a very ...

The Shattered Land (Eberron: The Dreaming Dark)9 reviews
Keith Baker

Wizards of the Coast, 2005

Keith Baker accelerates the story to another level.
Keith Baker's second insallment of the Dreaming Dark trilogy is even better than the first. The story takes on a much more mysterious and important feel. Plenty of dark secrets about the characters and their fates are hinted at. The adventurers from The City of Towers return in this one to travel to the land of Xen'Drik (or something like that), where they face all kinds of unique and ...
