REAL, EMOTIONAL, AND HONEST
RIC FLAIR TO BE THE MAN I have read many books that deal with wrestling, most of which are auto bios but I have to say that this has got to be one of the most insightful, entertaining, and honest ones I have had the joy of reading. For those who don't know [why are you reading this] who Ric Flair is just go ask the first person you see with any wrestling shirt on. You will probably get a ...

Explaining Jesse Ventura and his political victory to kids
Now that Jesse Ventura and his stint as governor of the Minnesota has been relegated to a footnote of American political history, this juvenile biography from the A&E "Biography" series reminds young readers of what all the excitement was about. The headlines and talking heads were all about the fact that Jesse "The Body" Ventura was a former professional wrestler, which overwhelmed what could ...

The things you finally discover
A little background: I grew up in Central Illinois, and began watching "All Star Wrestling" on Saturday mornings. I would see these bulky bruisers like Nick Bockwinkle and "Da Crusher!", and really thought this stuff was real. Then, out of nowhere, came this flamboyant, trash-talking, electrifying persona called Superstar Billy Graham, with his tie-dyed tights, Elton-John rhinestone ...

Entertaining collection of wrestling anecdotes!
This book is like watching a documentary on the life of Freddie Blassie, it doesn't read like a book, you feel like Blassie is talking to you. It's amazing that a man that went out of his way to make people hate him somehow managed to endear himself to the public the way Freddie Blassie did. He's the man that you love to hate. The stories in this book are often told from the point of view ...

You might like it
This is an autobiographical-like story told by young Zack about his very full and well rounded life with his lesbian parents. It is illustrated but with photographs rather than drawings. I prefer fictional stories with colorful and creative illustrations. But if you or your child want something more reality based this book could be for you.

One of my favourites
This book came out in 1988 during Australia's bicentennial of the European invasion of Australia. It shares a title with a book by Sally Morgan, an Aboriginal women whose search for her own identity and place was published at the same time. This book can be read in either direction. For younger children, it may be easier to start at then end an move forwards. For older children, part of the ...

Hmmmmmm
Being an advid reader I knew it was just a matter of time before Steve & Steve would be known via the sanitized filter of our collective cultural hubris machine. Still having the founders of Apple held up in this light will produce interesting effects upon Generation's Y (a name I dislike) when they get old enough to read the in depth historys. This one fact is indisputable, they worked ...
