Banquo's Ghosts28 reviews
Richard Lowry, Keith Korman

Vanguard Press, 2009

This is not generally my genre, but I couldn't put it down
I was convinced by a friend to read this novel. It is not a genre that I tend to read and had preconceived ideas about it....but I was proven wrong and happy to be so. The characters were colorful and believable. The book moved along at a nice pace in the first part and then picked up speed like a runaway train toward the end. The media, politicians, lawyers, heads of departments, terrorists-- ...

Steven D. Bines MD, Jose M. Velasco MD, ...

Saunders, 2006

review of surgery
This is a great product. I found out why it was only a dollar. It is the outdated edition. Was updated in 2006. This is the 2000 edition. It was in new condition however.

Behind the Dolphin Smile: A True Story that Will Touch the Hearts of Animal Lovers Everywhere9 reviews
Richard O'Barry, Keith Coulbourn

Renaissance Books, 2000

Captive dolphins need to be free
I think this book is well worth reading. I am a person that use to love marine parks, however my view has changed. Much is do to this book, plus my own research on the web. I have found out that most dolphins & whales in captivity don't live very long. There are exceptions like Miami Seaquarium's Lolita the killer whale. She is old for a captive whale, however she lives in a tank without ...

Shigley's Mechanical Engineering Design11 reviews
Richard Budynas, J. Keith Nisbett

McGraw-Hill Science/Engineering/Math, 2010

Best Mechanical Engineering Book I Own
This book covers the broadest amount of topics and is a great reference as well as instructional book. Provides the proper tools for all that is typically in the mechanical design process. I bought the book new, and do not regret dropping almost $200 for this book.

Functional Assessment and Program Development for Problem Behavior: A Practical Handbook6 reviews
Robert H. Horner, Richard W. Albin, ...

Wadsworth Publishing, 1996

Thorough; Easy to both read and implement.
I use this text in my college course on "Behavioral Assessment and Positive Behavior Support" for beginning special education teachers. It breaks down the process of completing a Functional Assessment and Functional Analysis in an easy-to-understand manner. The examples and the forms included are extremely helpful for all levels of behavioral intervention.

Real Digital Forensics: Computer Security and Incident Response9 reviews
Keith J. Jones, Richard Bejtlich, ...

Addison-Wesley Professional, 2005

Excellent Read
This book is written in such a style that is easy to understand, yet technical and detailed enough to maintain your interest and attention all the way through. The book presents several ways of accomplishing the same tasks in a non-biased, non-vendor-specific way. It explores the use of free, open-source tools as well as commercial offerings, and drills down into forensic analysis of both ...

What a Game They Played: An Inside Look at the Golden Era of Pro Football5 reviews
Richard Whittingham

Bison Books, 2002

Sport stories that are unknown and insightful
Stories about great athletes that were famous and not so famous. Each of the chapters talks about an athlete that contributed to the sport in very unique ways. After reading it, I wanted to know more about some of the characters that were great athletes and times very humorous. It's a book I will re-read and recommend highly.

One Man's Wilderness: An Alaskan Odyssey (Annivers123 reviews
Sam Keith, Richard Proenneke

Alaska Northwest Books, 2003

Fascinating Adventure Story
I have given and/or recommended this book probably more than any other outdoor adventure. It is the personal story of one man's experience alone in the wilderness of Alaska--a man who built his log cabin with his own hands, harvested his food from the wild country around him, and sustained himself for many years in an environment only the strong can survive. Naturalists, outdoorsman, and ...

Mark Spitz: The Extraordinary Life of an Olympic Champion5 reviews
Richard J. Foster

Santa Monica Press, 2008

Wow!
I'm not an athlete, but I really enjoyed reading this book. Mark Spitz' extraordinary career is great on its own, but the fabulous references to historical events of the time made this a very interesting read. I read it in three sittings and wished there was more.

Emergency Management: The American Experience 1900-20052 reviews
Claire B. Rubin (editor), David Butler, ...

Public Entity Risk Institute, 2007

Significant contribution
This is an important book and obligatory reading for all either interested in homeland security or professionally involved with it. It is also a facinating, and, for most readers, little known history of the US, the government, the major catastrophes that affected this country, and the recovery. While recommended for all as a simply very good read, the book ought to become a standard text used ...

Legion of Super-Heroes: The Great Darkness Saga9 reviews
Paul Levitz, Richard Bruning, ...

DC Comics, 1991

Graphic SF Reader
There is a paucity of republished Legion material in the form of trades, graphic novels, or whatever you want to call them, and one that was I am not sure why that was chosen ahead of others. Where's the 5 years etc? At least they did perhaps the best. Anyway, this a clear standout Legion story, dark avatars causing havoc, many problems, and the cosmic menace of Darkseid revealed.

Induction: Processes of Inference, Learning, and Discovery2 reviews
John H. Holland, Keith J. Holyoak, ...

The MIT Press, 1989

A must for knowledge workers!
This book should be 'the bible' for everyone involved in knowledge management processes. Holland, as one of the complexity theory founders, decribes the essentials of how complex adaptive rules, in relation to the variability of the environment, determine knowledge dynamics and learning capabilities. Key message of the book is the way that processes of induction, both cognitive and subcognitive, ...

Never Eat Alone: And Other Secrets to Success, One Relationship at a Time243 reviews
Keith Ferrazzi, Tahl Raz

Recorded Books, 2005

It's not about the author, it's about you. This works.
Two weeks ago, I got a lay-off notice. The next morning, I got a call to set up an interview for a new job. Exactly two weeks later, I chose between two opportunities, and was hired before my lay-off notice ended. The woman who hired me has never met me in person. She will pay me an excellent salary and benefits, and the working conditions are ideal. Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ferrazzi's ideas ...

Computer Forensics Library Boxed Set2 reviews
Keith J. Jones, Richard Bejtlich, ...

Addison-Wesley Professional, 2007

Great book, great info
This set of books is very well written and provides a tremendous amount of information to the reader. I would recommend this set of books to anyone who wants to roll up their sleeves and truly get their hands dirty. I would not recommend these books for the beginner as the material will quickly give one the feeling of "Drinking from a firehose" without a reasonable amount of knowledge going ...

Tender Mercies: Inside the World of a Child Abuse Investigator1 review
Keith N. Richards

CWLA Press (Child Welfare League of America), 1998

Pretty good but not for students
I gave this book 4 stars because it was a very good, easy read. The author did a great job, and Keith Richards does a good job of being honest about portraying the image of how the social workers real life is in this field. It doesn't give a lot of detail on the cases themselves and I wouldn't recommend it to students because it doesn't make the field sound too great. I'd recommend it to people ...
