Simply the best
This book is simply fabulous. In fact both Volumes 1 and 2 are brilliant. If you need accurate, detailed, and to-the-point information about Microsoft Access then this is the only way to go. The Developer's Handbook has everything anyone could ever need to know about Access. Granted, it is not for Access beginners, but if you have a handle on tables, forms, queries, and reports, and you aren't ...

A Must Have for Serious Access Developers
If you are just a beginer you might find parts of the Developer's Handbook set difficult to understand, but as you enhance your skillsets you will find these to be a must have. For a serious Access Developer these books are a definitely a must have. I've written in-house applications for years since Access 2.0. Now, I'm writing commercial applications using Access 2002 and the Developer's ...

Recipes for Access Developer Success
The Access Developer's Handbook Set (search ISBN: 0782140114) and in particular, Volume 1: Desktop Edition (search ISBN: 0782123708) is my definitive resource to approximately 4 years of Access development. I've got more stickies and highlights in this set than all other Access books combined. So when I came across the Access cookbook and realized that the same two indispensible authors (Getz & ...

Excellent Self Study Guide
If you develop databases for 10+ demanding users and your Access MBE databases slow down under load, this text is excellent to get you started in "Access Projects" and Client-Server design. It has one chapter on building better MDEs and around 6 solid chapters on Access Projects, including connection to SQL Server & any ODBC Server. I love this book as in one day I grasped most of the ...

Author's Comments
As a co-author on this book, I feel compelled to respond to Andres' review. I've never done this before, but this review is so slanderous as to cause both Paul and me great distress. Every book has typographical errors--that's the way the business is. If we're alerted to them, we're That's the great part about not having a CD--the samples can be updated "on the fly". As opposed to Andres' ...
The Gift of Participation: A Guide to Making Informed Decisions About Volunteering for a Clinical Trial

Most useful book...
Is there anything bad about this book? It's really hard to find flaws. It provides everything anyone would ever want to know about clinical research participation, the clinical research process, etc. The only (really the only) way it could improve would be by having current facts and figures. Some of them are from 2005, but most are recent.

Great book for anybody wishing to enter a clinical trial.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is thinking about entering a clinical trial. Research Studies are valuable tools for learning about diseases, and sometimes the only way to find a cure for a disease. But you have to understand to risk and side affects associated with them. This is a must read book for the researcher, doctor, and patient alike.

Thorough, Instructional, with great code samples
This book has gotten me out of many scrapes. It is a rare book that can be read from the beginning, while trying out the sample code, as a way to learn the language, or as a reference book, to look up how to use a certain function effectively while writing code. Don't let the title fool you, this book is for those coding in VB just as much as it is for those using VBA. If you are going to buy ...

THE Reigning Champ
Without a doubt, THE best book on Microsoft Access you will find. Most Access Developers will have several books on the shelf next to their desk gathering dust while they search through Google to resolve their latest dilema. Although I'm a Googler as well, my copy of ADH is frayed and worn...but never dusty. The authors write confidently and authoritatively, yet it seems that they take ...

DAO/ADO Why didn't they use some different letters?
Microsoft had the guts to simply stop DAO code in place (3.6 is it) and it was such an ugly mess to use to write client server applications that its just as well. Now there's ADO, which is like RDO (which you could only get by buying Visual Basic, Professional Edition, but now RDO is no longer being developed or improved), and ADO is also like PowerBuilder in its syntax and function, ...

When intuition fails, get this book!
This book is a must have for people who are moving beyond building simple and stock applications in Access. While I have a considerable library of Access books, this is the one I reach for first when I just can't seem to get from point A to point B. I don't think that I could live with just one Access book, but, if I had two, it would be this and The Access 97 Developers Handbook by the same ...

Paid for themselves in a day
I am a software developer and have been in business since 1982. I have never gotten more bank for my buck than with these books. I didn't think Access was worth a flip for program development until I bought these books. I have since developed a vertical market package for the seafood industry that sells itself by demo. Thanks Ken, Paul and Mike.

Any one chapter is worth the price of the book
If you are looking for an introductory book on Access 2.0, this is not that book. Use the MS manual and the F1 key. A lot. But once you have a basic understanding, and want to build a 'good' app, don't start without this book. If you believe that code can be beautiful and elegant you'll appreciate the book even more. The samples and examples on the accompanying disk will save you much more ...

THE Bible
As a God-fearing Christian (sans Bible-thumping), I generally object to the label "bible" being applied to software books that are either excessively comprehensive or simply weigh a lot. But when you are looking for a comprehensive guide for programming Access applications, the Access Developer's Handbooks are the best place to start. This, the third edition of the series for Access 97, continues ...

The most important book for the advanced Access Developer
I've bought every edition of the Developers Handbook since Access 2.0, and convinced every employer of mine during that period to buy a copy, too. I used to be amazed at how I could look for the solution to some Access problem in three other books and never find it (or even clues that helped!); then I'd look in Getz et al and find the *exact* solution, on a silver platter. In the past few ...

This book, the VBA6 version of Ken Getz's and Mike Gilbert's VBA Developer's Handbook, is a masterpiece. It may be true that the last version of the book was ...
