The maple syrup cookbook2 reviews
Ken Haedrich

Storey Communications, 1989

Changed my breakfast life!
This book changed my life, at least the breakfast part of my life. After trying a few recipes, I haven't used pancake/waffle mix since, nor have I bought boxed cereal. Now I make pancakes, waffles, granola and muffins from scratch. The desserts are great too. And I love reading his antedotes about each recipe, it is the first cookbook I read cover to cover.

Feeding the Healthy Vegetarian Family15 reviews
Ken Haedrich

Bantam, 1998

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I've been transitioning my family to a vegetarian diet for years. It has been difficult since my husband is a meat guy who still eats franks and sausage on a regular basis. My kids are semi-vegetarian, except my 5-year-old, who declared himself a true vegetarian six months ago due to a love of animals. All other cookbooks seem geared towards sixties hippies, with foreign and exotic ingredients ...

Country Breakfasts: Four Seasons of Cozy Morning Meals3 reviews
Ken Haedrich

Galahad Books, 2000

Inspiration
Love breakfast, and love this cookbook. You can't go wrong with Ken's recipes. Everything I've tried has been good. A little excitement w/ the Gingerbread Pancakes, which were not as sweet as expected, but with the Cranberry Compote he recommends, became a staple in our household. He has great combinations and seeing them gives me great new ideas to try.

Pie : 300 Tried-and-True Recipes for Delicious Homemade Pie26 reviews
Ken Haedrich, 2004

I Love Pie
So many excellent and easy-to-make recipes! The author guides you through the best ways to make each pie, and even gives you hints for making it special. Read each recipe all the way through because sometimes they may take longer than anticipated... but they ALL have come out great so far. (My friends want pie every time they see me now!)

Apple Pie Perfect: 100 Delicious and Decidedly Different Recipes for America's Favorite Pie10 reviews
Ken Haedrich

Harvard Common Press, 2002

Like apples? Like baking? Buy this book!
Ever wanted to know why you have to punch steam vents in your crust? Not sure how to tell when your pie is done? Does your bottom crust always come out soggy, not golden and firm? This book can solve your problems--never have the bottom crusts on our apple pies come out so well! The book includes "A Pie Maker's Guide to Apple Varieties." It would help if I could actually find more than four ...

Simple Desserts1 review
Ken Haedrich

Bantam, 1995

Lots of good stuff here, but not always simple as promised!
All-dessert cookbooks often fill me with trepidation. The book cover usually features a photograph of some dessert guaranteed to strike fear in the heart of even the most intrepid baker, and recipes that promise to be the soul of simplicity frequently reveal themselves to be of a nature as involved and delicate as I would imagine hostage negotiations to be. Ken Haedrich's "Simple Desserts" ...

Home for the Holidays1 review
Ken Haedrich

Bantam, 1994

A little deceptive.
While you could certainly consider this to be a cookbook of "festive baking," to say that it's "with whole grains" is a bit of a stretch. The recipes call for whole wheat flour, true, but also unbleached (processed) flour. You'll find oat, rye and buckwheat recipes, but not many. What the author means by his subtitle is really "festive baking with a little whole wheat." There are better cookbooks ...

Soup Makes the Meal: 150 Soul-Satisfying Recipes for Soups, Salads, and Breads10 reviews
Ken Haedrich

Harvard Common Press, 2001

Soups to die for
Bought this book in Shipshewanna IN in getting ready for football tailgating. Was the hit of the Saturday soups. The Curried Pumpkin and Cheddar Bisque is to die for -- and I had a lot of people who agreed. Can't wait to try the Garlicky White Bean and my husband's favorite, Scallop & Crab Bisque. Will be looking for more books by Ken Haedrich! Well written, easy to follow, ingredients ...

Country Baking6 reviews
Ken Haedrich

Bantam, 1994

My Favorite Cookbook!
I currently have this book out from the library and it is about 2 months over due as I cannot bear to part with it ( I promise to give it back when mine comes in from Amazon!) Every recipe I have tried in this book from Soft Oatmeal Sandwich Bread to Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookies is wonderful! They tastes delicious and yet the recipes use natural ingredients.
