Small Prints
The book shows Kenna's camera views of the Moss Landing area. Pictures are superb, calm, quiet yet minimalistic. I can only imagine how much work was achieved to catch the atmosphere of this place, which IMHO could be wet&flat&banal at a glance. It's the best of Kenna's book. No heavy constructions, no dramatic shades, simplicity and poetry. I can only recommend it. Cover photograph is familiar, ...

Outstanding retrospective
This book is a wonderful introduction and overview of the career of Micheal Kenna. Kenna's long-lived exposures and unusual eye for his subject material are unmistakably unique It is no wonder he is considered one of the world's most collectible photographers and apppeals to collectors just beginning to develop an interest in photography.

Visionary Photographer
"NightWalk" represents a collection of Kenna's earlier -- and best known -- work. These are Black and White, toned photographs that offer a unique vision and perspective of the natural landscape and some industrial sites. The subjects are always about form and light. Most taken at night or the early dawn or dusk reflect the solitude of that hour. This book -- if you can obtain a copy -- is a ...

Easter island masterpiece
This is my first book by Michael Kenna an I can say in all honesty that I will be getting some more of his books. His technique is very deliberate - a signature. The images are powerful and invite multiple sittings to soak them in.. There is an air of desolation and silence in his pictures, but also of calm.. of time moving. You can see time "move" while also feeling the immutability of the ...

BEAUTIFUL!!!
This is another fine offering from the good people at Nazraeli... Makers of EXTRAORDINARILY beautiful limited edition art books, and this one is NO exception. Housed in a gorgeous black silk covered folding case, the red silk cloth cover of the book just visually stuns when the covers (three panels) are opened. The cover panels wrap around the book and fasten shut with ivory-colored japanese ...

The Center of a Modern World
I am a collector of photo books, and a former art writer, and this is one of my all-time favorite books. I'm here at Amazon to buy it as a gift (again). At the time it was built, the Ford Rouge Plant was the single most technologically advanced place on the face of the planet--essentialy the Microsoft of its day, when the Industrial Age was hitting full stride. Raw iron ore would come in on ...
Mont St Michel
Michael Kenna
Nazraeli Press
, 2007
The small tidal island of Mont St Michel is situated just off the Normandy coast, connected to the mainland by a single causeway. Its abbey rises like a mirage, high above the sea, on this craggy, rocky perch. It is a spectacular sight, and one that Kenna has been drawn to many times over the years. By day, the island - a popular tourist destination - is alive with cars, buses, people, noise. It can seem a garish place. But at night, it becomes ...

brilliant japan
The images are beautifully composed and executed. Many of the images show a tension between "man-inflicted" and the natural, yet these elements coexistand form a wonderful whole.
