Excellent Manual
As far as I know, "Essentials of Adobe Captivate 3" is the only training manual out there on using this version of the product. The good news is that it's an excellent manual. I've been a trainer for many years, and struggled through my share of manuals that leave out steps, or assume the student can read the author's mind as to what he or she should do next. IconLogic Kevin Siegel's approach is ...

Starting with RoboHelp made easy!
Because of a new job I started a month ago, I was confronted with RoboHelp 7 HTML. After browsing around a bit, I found this workbook by Kevin Siegel. Fortunately, I was given the time at work to work through the whole book, which I did, and, believe me, I'm glad I did. The book is very informative and also interesting. It took me about 2 1/2 days until I was through, and I was never bored. Every ...

The go-to guide for learning PageMaker 7 from scratch
This is quite possibly the best approach to a training guide I've seen for a software program. Very concise and clear with hands-on exercises. The graphics could be crisper, but after a few pages, the black-and-white illustrations were not a distraction at all. I also applaud the fact that the book is spiral bound, which allows you to lay the book down next to the keyboard and follow along. ...

RoboHelp 6 essentials experienced
This is the third RoboHelp book I have purchased and is the one book I keep within arm's reach. Essentials of Adobe RoboHelp 6 HTML is different from the other two RoboHelp books. The Essentials book uses a hands-on, practial application approach to present a concept and then reinforces the concept with a confidence check. This approach is quite effective for quickly learning how to perform a ...

A Must-Have for the RoboHelp Certification exam
I purchased this book to familiarize myself with RoboHelp 2002 in preparation for the RoboHelp Certified Professional exam (I use version 9). I can't say enough about the quality and value of this book -- it's terrific! The text and exercises are very easy to understand, and really help build skills. I finished the book confident that I could make the most of the tools and features in RoboHelp ...

What a wonderful book!
I ordered this a couple weeks ago and just got around to using it two days ago. I wasn't in a hurry because I have viewed the videos about Captivate 2 on Lynda.com and thought this book would just be review--which it isn't. As an educator I should know the difference between just watching something done and actually doing it. In this book you do the exercises--which are clearly explained ...

Cheapest class you will ever take
This book is the cheapest class you may ever have, and it is a good class. As you may have noticed there are not many books written on Captivate. It's a shame because Adobe's Captivate really is great program. I am a freelance web designer and Flash animator in the Seattle market. Last year I wanted to learn Captivate and realized there are no classes in the Puget Sound area and only 3 books ...

Very useful information
Once again Kevin Siegel has provided e-learning folks with very useful information. I took his Captivate class almost a year ago and remember asking if he had an example style guide we could "borrow"...here it is! This is great for those of us who don't use Captivate everyday (or even for those that do). The book is short, concise, and to the point...what every technical writer likes to see. ...

This is one of the best classes I have ever taken. I enjoyed Ellie's class so much that I have enrolled in her next class given at the Board, which is proofreading. She is a wonderful instructor. Thanks Ellie.

Superior training methodology---this guy knows how to teach
This book offered the kinds of lessons I needed, taught the way I needed, and introduced me to "skills and drills" learning. I'd heard about that methodology but never tried it. I'm a big fan now. Here's what I mean about "skills and drills" learning: Each lesson was explained before I went throught it. Then each lesson was "skilled" into my head via step-by-step activities. Next the lesson was ...

Good if your looking for a very simple understanding of Quark
The book is a good beginning point. It is writen to a very basic level. It doesn't cover much detail or provide additional references. It is formatted on a workbook level. If you want a book to go through just the basics, it's a good Level 1 book.

Great Way To Get Started On Writing
Excellent Book: After going through the exercises in the book. I have changed my whole outlook on technical writing and instructional design. Kevin Siegel has well thought out exercises that show you exactly what technical writing is all about. It is a baby step book, to show you a logical style of writing. The book lets you know what possible things could be missing from your very own style of ...

Very pleased
This was my first experience with a help-authoring tool and found this workbook guided me through the options very well. The conventions used throughout the book were easy to follow; repetition was built into the activities; the example projects supplied with the workbook were flawless (I did not find one error); Mr. Siegel's writing style is easy, I felt like I was in a casual conversation with ...

Save money, make money!
You'll save your time and make more money faster and sooner with this book, guaranteed. I've been struggling for months trying to get the "big picture." It's developed here in this workbook from the viewpoint of someone creating a web SITE, not a web PAGE. I'm slow and I paid $200 earlier this summer for a two-day course in Dreamweaver. It was nothing compared to this book! This book is ...
