the cookbook is as lovely as the restaurant
A June visit to New Orleans, with dinner at Arnaud's, inspired the purchase of this cookbook. The book more than exceeded my expectations, with interesting anecdotes, beautiful photographs and doable, delicious recipes. The only thing missing is the recipe for the distinctive remoulade sauce they use for Shrimp Arnaud, a great favorite. However, they do sell the sauce so all is not lost. This ...

Best in the series! Themes expertly woven together
This Get Real is the best of all. Ellerbee weaves together themes like popularity and intelligence with school elections and school violence and vandalism vs. safety vs. freedom. Perfect!

I really enjoyed this book, Get Real #2. In this book, Casey accidentaly gets her friend/rival Megan framed for stealing the answer key for a big test. She has to find the criminals, and the clues make Casey suspect some of Megan's friends. Megan gets mad at Casey for suspecting them. Casey has to risk Megan's friendship to go after the story! This book has plenty of adventure and a good ...

Very good, except it could have been longer
Good story. Much better than I thought it would be. However... there wasn't much of any newspaper stuff this time. Mostly it was about a school assignment. If it had been just 50 pages longer, there could have been school newspaper meetings and editorials about racism and prejudice, articles about town history and heritage, dsylexia/learning disabilities and differences, etc. Just a little ...

This is really the best book out of all 8 - it really attacks real problems on body images. It shows waht can REALLY happen in the real word. This book will teach you a very valuable lesson - self-confidence! Enjoy!

Travel, Food, Fun, Friends, Lovers, and Misadventures
Ellerbee writes just the way she speaks, and when you read Take Big Bites, you feel like she's talking directly to you. This is a book that you never want to end. It's a memoir about travel and food and friends and lovers and misadventures. She has done it all. Most of the time, she travels alone. She prefers that so she's forced to talk to the people where she's visiting. Occasionally, she goes ...

Great for sixth graders!
"My daughter loves these books in this series." As my daughter said," I can relate to what she is going through. It seems like Casey Smith is a real sixth grader." Linda Ellerbee is an exceptional writer! I would recommend it to any sixth grade parent to give to their child.

Historically accurate
This is a fascinating biography by an author who is rapidly becoming a "library must-have" in the field of women's history. Nellie Bly's story is an inspiration for anyone--girls, boys and adults--and her life as a crusading journalist is so rarely found in library collections. The photos are a nice addition, and the book by National Geographic virtually attests to its quality.

Should be required reading
There are some books that should never be resigned to the dustbin and this is one of them. The message is timeless and, despite the humor, frightening. Ms. Ellerbee's wisdom is needed more today than it was back in 1988.

Typing Back
This one of my favorite series so this book was no different. I loved the way it showed how kids can get scammed on the internet, as well as adults. I like how Casey has a nose for news. I feel like we have a lot in common. This books shows you that you have to be very careful on the internet because you might not relize how big it is. Power to the Kids in the News!

I Did It All in the Grand Canyon
Very good reading, with excellent comments on the Grand Canyon, the experiences of rafting the river and essays on how the canyon touches people in different ways. I have just completed an 8 day trip of over 280 miles in the canyon and experienced every emotion and awe-inspiring moment described in the book. The photographs are worth the purchase price alone. A must read before and after ...

Stunningly Beautiful
This is nothing less than a work of genius, a beautiful story which is beautifully told. The thrilling exploits of this legendary giant of journalism are sure to enthrall everyone who reads about them. No other person, living or dead, could possibly have a more interesting story to tell, or be able to tell it in a more interesting way. Ms. Ellerbee is simply amazing, and her great talent ...

Review from www.firrkids.com
Picking up this book is akin to being able to look directly into the minds of children and teens across the country, which is a pretty amazing thing. Some of the letters are touching, some are funny and some are downright sad. Nearly all of them are fascinating and there is no way of predicting what thoughts will be revealed with the turn of each page. Almost as interesting as the book itself ...
