Great book - great for older kids too!
I bought this book recently, and I read it aloud today for my son's 3rd grade class, and they all LOVED it!!! Even their teacher laughed along with the story, and all of the kids loved each page as things got messier and messier!!! It's a really sweet story with beautiful and colorful illustrations. Definitely goes older than grade 1!!! My 8 year old and a classroom full of 8 & 9 year olds ...

My daugher loves this book
She asks me to read it over and over again. I think she likes the idea of a daughter teaching her mother something, in this instance all about pet rats. We both enjoyed the story.

This is a wonderful book, with even better pictures.
The pictures in this book are beautiful. It was a great way to introduce the concept of fall to my preschool class. It tells about all aspects of fall and is great for any age.
Magnificent Monarchs

Fantastic!
This book is a "must have" for any school or home library. It is part of the fantastic series by Linda Glaser that takes a close-up look at many of nature's creations. The book provides a wealth of information about the Monarch, with many additional details in the back of the book for readers (and their teachers or parents) to explore further. The wonderful text in this informative book can ...

The Magic of Spiders
This is one of the most delightful educational books for children I've seen. The illustrations capture the magic of science yet are as accurate in detail as a photograph. The spiders' world opens to the reader as Oz opened to Dorothy. The writing too is exciting, both direct and poetic - a rarity. A particularly good touch is the extra information given in the appendix, suggesting that there ...

Dazzling Dragonflies gets it right and looks great, too!
Dazzling Dragonflies, the latest Linda Glaser natural history book for children, nails the basic life-history of dragonflies. This delightful book uses kid-friendly language without compromising the facts. Illustrator Mia Posada's images are gorgeous and rich while still paying attention to the details of these complex insects. Several species are highlighted and there is an "appendix" at the ...

With beautiful cut-paper art work
It's Winter is the third book in a highly recommended series of four titles on the various seasons, and is packed with insights about winter, beautiful cut-paper art work, and suggestions for activities to enhance an appreciation of the season. My son loves this book!
Upon checking this book out of the library, my son promptly fell in love with it. After checking this book out from the library again & again, I am finally ordering our very own copy! It is a charming story of a little boy who waits & watches for the garbage truck to come each trash day. If this sounds like your child, they will love this book! Also a good book if your child is shy and/or ...

Great, Moving Hannukkah Book!
This book will become one of my Hanukkah favorites. I thought it was really a moving story and believe that my students will love it. I am not Jewish and don't have any Jewish students but teaching and learning about Hanukkah as well as other winter holidays is a great way to build understanding and tolerance. The Hannukkah unit is definitely a favorite.

Excellent book!
I love books about the seasons, and this is one of the best I have read to my children. The wording is perfect - full of everything fun for kids about the season, and the illustrations are beautiful. Also, at the end of the book is a list of activities to do in the springtime with kids. We have the fall book, too, and are anxiously awaiting the winter and summer books to be released.
It's Summer (Celebrate the Seasons! (Sagebrush))

Forgettable
This works well enough, if you're trying to teach a seasonal theme. It covers all the bases for a unit on summer, and the pictures are lovely, but it really didn't do much to capture the imagination (or interest) of this homeschooling Mom or her son.
Fabulous Frogs

Tanya and the Earth Saving Project
"Tanya's Big Green Dream" is a wonderful book to start with before introducing a class project for Earth Day. The book is also really good for young readers to learn about the many different ways they can help save the Earth (by recycling, conserving water, etc). This is a short novel with small chapters with black and white pictures. The story begins as the students of a class are trying to ...
