Immunity (Dr. Alexandra Blake Novels)2 reviews
Lori Andrews

St. Martin's Minotaur, 2008

exhilarating conspiratorial thriller
DEA Agents Ted Silliman and Castro Baxter are part of a joint workforce with the Las Vegas Police Department investigating the use of the date rape drug "J"; the victims end up in many cases mutilated and dead. Evidence leads to the Fantasy Resort owned by septuagenarian Frankie "The Bayonet" DiBondi, but it makes no sense for him to deal with an illegal relatively minor remittance when his ...

The Silent Assassin (Dr. Alexandra Blake Novels)7 reviews
Lori Andrews

St. Martin's Paperbacks, 2008

No mystery why this author knows her stuff
It's a commonplace of the mystery form: ex-policemen write police procedurals, lawyers write legal mysteries and doctors write medical thrillers. We're lucky that, in her second offering, the world's foremost expert on legal issues dealing with genetic material uses information from her day job to continue her top-notch series featuring hot blonde geneticist Alexandra Blake. Andrews shows an ...

Sequence (Dr. Alexandra Blake Novels)13 reviews
Lori Andrews

St. Martin's Minotaur, 2007

Pretty good first effort but not up to Ms. Cornwall's writing!
I enjoyed this book very much but thought we had a few too many side trips into Dr. Alex Blake's past and current romantic life. The descriptions, forensics and police and crime scene procedurals were pretty well done. Dr. Alexandra Blake is in her mid-thirties and has a two-year fellowship at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP), a real place by the way. They have a new boss come ...

Black Power White Blood2 reviews
Lori Andrews

Temple University Press, 2000

An Amazing Redemption
I have met Johnny and talked with him at length. It's difficult to reconcile this story with the person that I know. He is the least bitter person I have ever met and he works tirelessly for a common good. He is a very bright spark in our world.

Essential reading
The authors of this incisive book issue a timely and essential wake-up call to all those who consider economic globalisation to be a positive, inevitable and irreversible process. Body Bazaar: The Market for Human Tissue in the Biotechnology Age2 reviews
Lori Andrews, Dorothy Nelkin

Who Owns Your Body?
If you took a human being and dismantled the body into its elements of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, phosphorus, and the rest, you would get a collection of pure chemicals that used to estimated as worth 89 cents. That's what you get if you take all the information and structure away.
