The Story Teller's Story Teller
Mark Finn's biography of Robert E. Howard is an interesting read & well worth the time for any fan of REH's work. Mr. Finn's examination of Howard by referencing his Texas roots has been mentioned by other reviewers & I'll not echo that here. Let me just say that I believe this treatment allows for a very unique & convincing testament that a writer's environment can & does influence his work. ...

Elvis, Cupid, and Stercutus! O MY!
Mr. Finn's book, Gods New and Used, is the perfect thing for people who don't like fantasy, but know what they like. Each story give little tidbits that add up, like nested boxes, until finally in the last story, everything comes together. My favorite novelette is The Secret Life of Lawrence Croft. It's funny, mean, scary, and very true to life. If you are a member of fandom, this book is ...

This work follows in the footsteps of Ana-Maria Rizzuto who took the bold step of employing object relations theory to ...

waterfront fists (and others)
Waterfront Fists is a great collection of R.E.H. fight fiction. All but two are from his Sailor Steve Costigan series. These comic tales are always funny as Costigan gets into and out of various predicaments, usually involving money, women, or often both. Two of these stories ,Circus Fists and The Sluggers Game are worth the price of the whole book.If you dont know Howard as a humorist, you will ...

Pulp revitalized
Having grown up reading Edgar Rice Burroughs, Max Brand, and H.P.Lovecraft,this book had me going back to the bookcase to reread some old favorites. Mr. Finn's style evokes the memory of these great writers while bringing the genre into the 21st century. The lead character, Sam Bowen, brings the excitement of John Carter, Tarzan, and James Bond into a fictional setting of San Cibola in search of ...
