Comprehensive and Easy to Follow
This book has easy-to-follow instructions and enjoyable songs to play. I am only 1/3 of the way through this book, and thoroughly enjoying it. It has some familiar and not-so-familiar folk standards, leading the player through basic patterns first, then adding variations, melodies, ornaments and finally culminating in a full fingerstyle selection that will challenge almost any player at any ...

Whoohoo Christmas, Here we come!!!!!
Wow........ Yes, now this is just great. You know it's always worth buying a book if 1 song is great... There are a couple of Great Arrangements from Mark Hanson in this book. You better be ready though if you start the 4 more challenging songs from this book because they are very difficult for most people. Mark Hanson has some difficult ways of playing some of the chords. I even had to ...

Best Lesson Book I have ever purchased
Many of the other reviews have said it first, but Mark Hanson has created an excellent series of finger picking lesson books. The Art of Solo Fingerpicking is an intermediate fingerpicking book. If you can only strum a few chords or are new to fingertyle, start off with Mark's The Art of Contemporary Travis Style Picking first and then come back to this one. The exercises (in both books) ...

Being Lutheran in Today's World
If you would like to know what it means to be Lutheran and Christian in today's world this is the book for you. (Along with the wonderful Lutheran Handbook) Dr. Lull gives to us wisdom that puts theology and modern (or post-modern) issues together in a way that directs us to "in the world" Christianity. He was a wonderful teacher that saw faith and life as overlapping not seperate, as some ...

Best reference on Alternate Tunings
This book is a literal encyclopedia for alternate tunings. It contains several of the most odd types Ive seen. Page after page of different types of tunings. It also has a list of what bands have been known to use which tunings. Since new tunings are always being created by artists, the book will probably never be complete as the author states. But this one is as close as it gets!

Finally, a good Paul Simon tab book--You'll learn *so* much!
There are so many guitar books for Simon and Garfunkel, and until I saw this book, I was convinced that they were all useless. This book has really accurate transcriptions, obviously done by someone who has a personal interest in Paul Simon's guitar playing; it shows in the song selection. If you don't know how to play Kathy's Song, Overs, Peace Like a River, 59th St Bridge Song, Scarborough ...

Great Book Assembled for You Understand
As the previous reviewer stated this book does exactly what it states, gives you tons of pictures of various chords. If you are comfortable with standard tuning, and want to experiment with something different than this is a good book to try. It shows you chords with pictures and charts organized by tunings. There are enough tunings in this book to keep anyone occupied for a long time. Plus the ...

Modern Man is in Trouble
This is a very interesting and easy to read book. Gluckman and Hanson have managed in less than three hundred pages to explain the consequences of our man-made world not longer being appropriate for the biology we evolved with. They have done so using ideas from evolutionary biology, developmental science and medicine and show an understanding of environmental change and use examples that make ...

What a Bargin
If you play classical style guitar and maybe your music reading skills are not so good, this is a great book. The CD gets you going with the rhythm and the TAB notation makes it easy to find the fingering. That said, it is not a begining book; the music is transcribed pretty close to what you hear from the greats.

Beautiful
When I first got the book, I put the CD in to listen briefly to the first track to get an idea of what the pieces sounded like. I ended up listening to the entire thing. Track 6 was so emotional and unbelievable that I had pains in my chest. The price of the book is definately worth the CD alone. The book comes with probally around 20 songs with TAB. The songs are NOT easy so if your not a ...

These Places Are Great
Having worked in the heavy industrial electrical/mechanical field for the past 26 years, I have worked at many facilities similiar to those illustrated in this book. I love them! You can say what you'd like regarding their environmental impact, but I can tell you, these are great places to work. The process is usually very interesting, and the customer most always demands a quality job. ...

Great Book
I love this book, this was the first book I purchased, authored by Mark Hanson. The most of the material is challenging. A "Trout Towards Noon" is on the easy side, so start with that on. I found the accompaning cassette to be very useful. Mark plays the tune at half speed, which allows you play along at some speed. His verbal notes on the recording are very useful to.

This Chicken Soup Warmed my Soul
Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul: Journal, was one of the most moving books I have read. It is directed towards adolescents, and deals with issues every adolescent girl faces. It's a blend of stories, quotes, poems, and spaces to write your thoughts. This book has many different sections such as: family, learning lessons, love and kindness, and tough stuff. My favorite section, however, is ...

Great Harold Arlen tunes for beginning & intermediate guitar
Mark Hanson has done a fine job of arranging the original orchestrations for fingerstyle guitar. Some of it is approachable by the advanced beginner; intermediate guitarists should find their efforts rewarded with a fun little repetoire which offers room for musical expression. (There are some fairly tricky harmonics.) The more advanced guitarist can develop a suite with much charm and a ...
