Great book!
This book is great! Good writing, good exercises. Good for people who have some experience in programming. If you have never had any contact to other languages or logic, consider studying some introdutory topics before reading this book.

Good enough I suppose
One thing I really wish O'Reilly would have made clear on the cover is the version of Python which was current at the time of publication. In this case, it's 2.4, so if you're looking for information on things like function decorators or the new generator abilities that 2.5 brought along, you're going to be as disappointed as I was. Aside from the fact that some of the information is dated, ...

Great reference - now with an index!
I read various reviews complaining about the lack of an index. Well, it does have one now and it complements perfectly what is a fantastic quick reference for many of your Python needs, from built-in modules to regular expressions. Of course, it does not include the formal grammar of the language, a complete reference of libraries available or anything other than quick pointers for someone who ...

Significant challenge to economic orthodoxy
Wonderful challenge to orthodoxy of "the dismal science" which goes beyond standard right/left ideology...though Lutz/Lux fail to acknowledge it, what they advocate essentially falls in tune with a largely forgotten 3rd way between state socialism and rabit laissez-faire econ...namely that of anarcho-syndicalism...Focusing mainly on the Basque achievements in Mondragon in Spain, the book puts ...
Socrates' Education to Virtue: Learning the Love of the Noble

One of the best contemporary books on philosophy.
This book succeeds in bringing out the very core of Socrates' philosophy and makes a powerful case for its importance for our time. When I first picked up the book, I thought that it was overly ambitious. But I am very impressed by the subtelty and rigor with which it shows how Plato answers Nietzsche and Rorty. Anyone who wishes to know what the philosophes actually know should read it. It ...

The rule book for our world from today forward
A well thought out and documented set of ideas illustrating that we can have an economic system that provides for the people in it, not just for the institutions around it. I would give a lot for the opportunity to greet this man in person. With the likes of him, there may be hope after all, if we can get the word out.
