Great Book
I really enjoyed the individual stories in this book. They were originally "e-books" but I very rarely read e-books. I'm on computers all day long - usually I just want to read the "old-fashioned" way. Anyway - if you're a fan of the Corps of Engineers - go ahead and read this book -

A fascinating read for students of psychology
I enjoyed this book but I have to admit to a prejudice. I am a huge fan of Seligman's books and grab everything I can get my hands on. This book is well argued and provides compelling evidence of the phenomenom of 'Learned Helpnessness' which can lead to depression, low motivation and poor workplace performance. The book discusses and interprets experimental research in the area of learned ...

Be informed! This book is so helpful for people considering nasal surgery
I truly wish that this book had been available prior to my nasal surgeries. I did research, but nothing that would have prepared and informed me like Chris Martin's book. It is very detailed and heartfelt. For those who have already rolled the dice and lost with a nasal surgery, this book offers hope, support and many helpful suggestions. ENS is real! Even with a "conservative" surgery, it ...

A positive, worthwhile, and encouraging model for a vital question
-The authors helped found the Positive Psychology movement, which hopes to supplement psychology's current medical model ("find what's wrong, then fix it") with a model for positive health ("find what's right, then encourage it"). Psychological health, which is not just an absence of disease, includes such things as character preparation, improved baseline happiness, realistic optimism, wisdom, ...

Easy to read, theorethically strong and practical enough
After reading many books about logistics and supply chain issues, this third edition adds value to the field. The author confirms his visionary approach and provides new thinking on supply chain risk and resilience. Not only agility is now more elaborated and explained as an important logistics strategy together with leaness, but also, hybrid strategies are proposed and practical cases are ...
Gothic Nightmares: Fuseli, Blake and the Gothic Imagination
Tate Publishing
, 2006
The 1770s were marked by the emergence of themes of violence, horror, and the supernatural in art: the birth of the Gothic. In 1782 the unveiling of Henry Fuseli's painting The Nightmare was met with a mixture of shock and fascination, and was followed by the cosmic visions of William Blake and the searing grotesque caricatures of James Gilray. While there have been several re-assessments of Gothic literature in recent years, Gothic ...

Recognizing God in Each of Us
BECOMING ME is a heart-warming picture book that tells the story of creation from a very special vantage point -- that of the Creator. I find myself drawn so fully into this story that I feel I am experiencing what it is like to be God, in a universe where "nobody who knew that I was... but I was." Vivid illustrations splash a riot of vibrant colors to express the way spirit finds form in the ...

Awesome book on public art, music, archicteture and creativity
I have known Christopher Janney for 20 years and have had the fortune to assist him on many of his amazing public art projects. The great thing about his art is that it literally transforms the spaces and the people who come into contact with it. It is an instant party wherever his work goes up whether it is on the steps of the Met, the Herald Square subway platform, or the Miami airport. This ...

Marlowe outdoes himself!
Marlowe's final play is also his masterpiece. To be sure, the dramatic events in this play really did happen, but Marlowe shows himself at his best when he paints the picture. At first, Marlowe masterfully allows us to detest Edward for undoing all the fine work of his father Edward Longshanks. We also are able to feel sorry for Mortimer and Isabella. (the eventual villains). Isabella feels ...

The tradition of portraiture in Latin America is astonishingly long and rich. For over 2,000 years, portraits have been used to preserve the memory of the deceased, bolster the social standing of the aristocracy, mark the deeds of the mighty, advance the careers of politicians, record rites of passage, and mock symbols of the status quo. This beautiful and wide-ranging book?the first to explore the tradition of portraiture in Latin America from ...

Gets Inside Reporters' Heads
"Framed! Labor and the Corporate Media," by Christopher Martin. Reviewed by David Swanson May 27, 2004 I didn't need to be told that the corporate media do a horrendous job of covering organized labor. What this book tells us that I have not seen analyzed so well elsewhere is what the thought processes look like that lead to this horrendous coverage. It's simple enough to observe that the ...

No more than one-fifth of any play is represented, but many can be ...

Clear and Insightful!
This book takes difficult concepts and makes them relevant for both college students and lay persons. I thoroughly enjoyed the challenges it presented to my belief system and the growth I have experienced because of it. I strongly recommend it.
