Central Europe (Multi Country Guide)3 reviews
Paul Smitz

Lonely Planet, 2007

Great general guide
This book is really good if you don't want to buy individual books for each country you are visiting. It has information on travel to and from each country, sights to see, accommodation, food and other interesting cultural references. It has been a great planning tool for my upcoming trip.

Lonely Planet Publications, 2005

Usefull stuff in, out with the rest...
I bought this book 2 months ago while planing a trip to OZ & NZ later on this year. It is well orgenized (the TOC is region based) and drills down in each area to its unique and famous places. The book has just the right quantity of information regarding each item with a veriety of maps and side trip activities. It contains a lot of usefull data about both countries and you can defenetly see ...

Lonely Planet Tasmania2 reviews
Paul Smitz

Lonely Planet Publications, 2002

Recommended
On a recent trip to Tasmania I refered often to this book and found it a useful companion. Like all Lonely Planet books it has good coverage of contexts such as political, historical, natural. There aren't too many guidebooks specifically devoted to Tasmania, and this one does the job admirably.

Lonely Planet New Zealand25 reviews

Lonely Planet Publications, 2004

Highly recommended
I just went on a month-long trip from Auckland to Christchurch, and this book was very helpful. Apparently a new version is going to come out soon. Definitely get the new one as some of the information was starting to get old. You don't absolutely have to get a travel guide before going to NZ (especially if you're on a tour like Kiwi Experience), but if you are going to get a travel guide, I ...

Samoan Islands & Tonga (Multi Country Guide)2 reviews
Paul Smitz

Lonely Planet, 2006

Lonely Planet's Samoan Islands & Tonga
We found this book to be very helpful and especially appreciated the Conversation/ Essentials in the rear of the book. We only visited 'Upolu, and the guide gave us important insights about the Samoan culture and etiquette which served us well. We stayed at Sinalei Reef Resort which we would highly recommend if you are traveling without children, and the restaurant at Coconut's Beach Club was ...

Lonely Planet Southeast Asia on a Shoestring (Lonely Planet Shoestring Guides)18 reviews
China Williams, George Dunford, ...

Lonely Planet Publications, 2006

South East Asia on a shoestring
This book is all good so far. Looking at different types of itineries across the whole of SE Asia is very helpful, and the prices seem pretty up to date at the mo (aug 08). Have had some good tips on getting the best for our money and the 'our picks' in each section have made the places full of like minded people! Top tip for such a thick book -when you get into a city/town/place cut out the ...

Lonely Planet Best of Brussels: The Ultimate Pocket Guide & Map (Lonely Planet Best of Brussels)1 review
Paul Smitz

Lonely Planet Publications, 2004

Another great publication
This guidebook was crucial to my few days in Brussels. I used this compact and user-friendly book to plan my trip. I found all the information accurate and interesting. All the highlights, and some quirky sights, were covered. Most importantly, its portable size and built-in maps made finding my way around so easy. However, as a disclaimer, it is the Best of Brussels. If you are looking for an ...

Lonely Planet Australia26 reviews
Paul Smitz

Lonely Planet Publications, 2005

Great book for big cities
On my recent trip to Australia, I only visited the typical big American tourist spots: Sydney, Melbourne and Cairns (Great Barrier Reef). This book had great information about where to stay, what to do, and great places to eat. LP Australia provides lots of background and history for each city as well as information about what's been going on. It's almost like having your own personal tour ...
