A must-read for those with ties to DC and/or Georgetown.
This book truly captures the essence of what makes Georgetown such a special place. The images offer a fascinating glimpse of a school that grew with our nation, and the captions are succinct and insightful. Certainly an interesting read for any history buff, but a must-have for anyone with ties to the university.

A Series you Can Read Again and Again
Here's a highly enthusiastic plug for Paul O Williams who wrote only two things: * the 7 book Pelbar Cycle. * The Gifts of the Gorboduc Vandal, since republished with a sequel in an omnibus volume called Man from Far Cloud. Gifts is the only book that I've ever read more than a couple times, and it remains among my favorite novels of all-time. The Pelbar Cycle IMO is a highly ...

A straight talk book about disaster preparation
Our family has been storing food, water, bedding etc. for years in anticipation of a natural or man-made disaster. When we read Dr. Paul William's book, "When All Plans Fail", we realized we had only scratched the surface. In this book we found lists of items we hadn't even thought of. It also stimulated us to put into action the preparation guidelines given in this book. It is well written in ...

Martin Cahill -- Prince of Thieves
Martin Cahill, a/k/a "The General," was perhaps Ireland's most notorious gangster, a genius criminal who stole millions (in artwork, jewelry and cash) right out from under the noses of the Garda S?och?na(Irish Police.) Paul Williams, quite adeptly, tells the humorous but ultimately tragic tale of a remorseless thief with a penchant for rather unorthodox sexual activity (he lived and fathered ...

I think this might be my favorite Danny Dunn book.
Danny, loooooooong preceeding "Neuromancer", dons a helmet and gloves which give him sensations from an outside source--in this case, a mechanical dragonfly. He uses this technology to his own ends, of course. Prescient sci-fi from the team of Williams and Abraskin.

Gobbolino the Witch's Cat
This book was read to my class in England, when I was 15 years old. I'm nearly 40 now, and this delightful story has stuck with me for 25 years, until I could read it to my own child. Gobbolino, is a misunderstood soul, a character that all children can asociate with! I now live in Canada, and have spent several years trying to track this book down. Not all stories can drive a mother to these ...

The definitive book on the history of the "city" of Hollywod
For anyone who is seriously interested in the history of the quasi-city known as Hollywood (as opposed to "Hollywood" - the concept for the world of movies in general). This book goes into a level of detail almost unparalleled in any other book on any other "city". From pristine lemon groves and Victorian mansions, to posh golden age nightclubs, to skid row blight and to a final sort of rebirth, ...

It Helps You Break the Code
Even though I am predisposed to dislike "The Da Vinci Code," reading James Garlow's book has given me many more reasons. It is an easy dictionary for names, places, and terms referenced in or related to Dan Brown's novel. Though it appears to be written for the reader who is already familiar with the novel, I haven't read it all yet and didn't find The Code Breaker less easy to understand. ...

Must Have for Resoration Historians
This reference is a must have for anyone interested in the American Reformation (Restoration) Movement of the 19th century, involving Alexander Campbell, Barton W. Stone, Walter Scott, et al. The churches which sprung from this movement are generally called "Church of Christ", "Christian Church", or "Disciples of Christ". The entries are thorough, understandable and well referenced, yet they ...

Psychologically Savvy Sturgeon's Success in Sixth
Baby Is Three is the wonderful sixth volume in the Sturgeon collection. The collection is organized chronologically by story creation date. Having read and enjoyed the first five volumes, it was hard for me to imagine that I could possibly like Baby Is Three even better. But I did! Sturgeon's writing shows an impressive maturity of idea and flow in this volume, and Paul Williams' story ...

Love me tender, love me true
I now have all 7 volumes - all 7 available currently. But I only got volume 5 about a month ago, much later than 6 and 7. And the biggest problem I am facing now - how am I going to make it last till they print the 8th?! I read one story per week - though I die to gulp them down and make a feast of reading this book. Each precious tender love story - only one a week. Once in a week I sit down and ...

A perfect title for an almost perfect book.
Mr. Williams has crafted an entertaining and thought provoking treasure. It brought to mind events of my past, and caused me to ponder the future with fresh insight. The book reads so quickly I was not ready for it to end. I'll be looking for Mr. William's next book.

Fantastic book for first-time project managers/leaders.
I have read several business related books which have been a waste of my time. However, this book is clear, concise, and very easy to apply to daily work. It helps you by giving a defined process and also addresses the "what ifs" associated with many aspects of managing a project. I found the book easy to read and hard to put down. I found myself say "so thats why I have a hard time of ...

Now he's hit his stride
In this volume Sturgeon is beginning to hit his stride. Some of these are among the best short stories in SF (e.g. Microcosmic God, Shottle Bop). In the earlier stories, Sturgeon was still trying to find his ideal voice. Much of the prose was forced, and some rather simple plot devices (especially irony) were common. In this volume, though, he is coming into his own.

Wonderful! Insightful!
For anyone seeking the answer to, "Why am I here?" this is one of the world's best books, ranking right up there with "The Teachings of the Compassionate Buddha." It is a short lesson about why and who each of us is what we are. I congratulate Paul Williams for his concise thoughts and perfect understanding.

obstetrics,high-risk,maternal-fetal medicine
As a woman who has had a history of difficult pregnancies (including unexplained fetal demises), Williams Obstretrics was indispensable to me in my search for the causes of my missed abortions (late miscarriages). Many doctors feel the less patients know from firsthand sources (such as this book), the better it is. But for me, Williams Obstretrics answered many questions not only regarding my ...
