Adventures of a Bystander15 reviews
Peter Ferdinand Drucker

Harpercollins, 1991

Meeting the people Drucker met
Instead of the usual self-focused auto-biography, Drucker introduces us to the people that have shaped him. Some are famous (Bucky Fuller, Marshal Mcluhan) some are not (his elementary school teacher). Some are good, some evil, but they are are worth meeting, especially through Drucker's eyes. A good read.

Managing Oneself (Harvard Business Review Classics) (Harvard Business Review Classics) (Harvard Business ...2 reviews
Peter Ferdinand Drucker

Harvard Business School Press, 2008

Self Help for People on the move
I set this book apart from typical management books, because this one provides basic step by step, concrete steps that someone needs to take in order to get a handle on "oneself". I couldn't put this one down, and gleamed much wisdom from it. I would almost call this book "Drucker's personal insight on how to manage your life"

Classic Drucker: From the Pages of Harvard Business Review5 reviews
Peter Ferdinand Drucker

Harvard Business School Press, 2008

Simplicity on the other side of complexity
To me, one of Peter Drucker's greatest strengths as a business thinker is his ability to cut to the proverbial "bone" when sharing an insight about an especially complicated subject. This unique talent illustrates what Oliver Wendell Holmes meant when observing that he didn't "care a fig about simplicity on this side of complexity" but greatly admired simplicity "on the other side of ...

Harvard Business Review on Decision Making4 reviews
Peter Ferdinand Drucker, John Hammond, ...

Harvard Business School Press, 2001

Theory and Practice - advice from the leading minds.
There are several books from the Harvard Business Review that follow this simple format - essays on critical topics by the leading minds in the field compiled into a short book of around 200 pages. One of these critical topics is Decision Making. That topic is the focus of this book. There are hundreds of books on management, strategy, leadership, etc. but not many are purely dedicated to ...

Management: tasks, responsibilities, practices7 reviews
Peter Ferdinand Drucker

Harper & Row, 1974

WOW
This is the book on how to make a business WORK! I am president of a small company and immediately took the ideas and practices out of this book and applied them to great success. This is not a quick read, and every item will not pertain to each individual person, but the observations presented explained a huge number of obstacles I was facing. If you are trying to manage any form of modern ...

People and Performance: The Best of Peter Drucker on Management
Peter Ferdinand Drucker

Harvard Business School Press, 2007

What is management? What is the relationship between management and the society and culture it seeks to direct? How is a business organized, and how can managers use people's strengths more effectively? These and many more questions are discussed in Peter Drucker's classic survey of management thought and practice. Spanning all the main dimensions of management, Drucker used his direct experience as an adviser to businesses, government ...

Harvard Business Review on Knowledge Management (Harvard Business Review Paperback Series)12 reviews
Peter Ferdinand Drucker, David Garvin, ...

Harvard Business School Press, 1998

If KM seems expensive, try ignorance
I read this book when it was first published in 1998 and recently re-read it, curious to see how well it has held up since then. It has done so to a remarkable extent. Again, I am reminded of Derek Bok's observation "If you think education is expensive, try ignorance." This is one in a series of several dozen volumes which comprise the "Harvard Business Review Paperback Series." Each ...

On April 15, 2006 the Collegiate Forum at Georgetown University held a talk on the future of labor policy in the United States and how to redistribute opportunity. Peter F. The New Realities: In Government and Politics/in Economics and Business/in Society and World View4 reviews
Peter Ferdinand Drucker

Harpercollins, 1989

SUMMATION OF THE KEY QUESTIONS FOR THE 21ST CENTURY
In the current world, almost everyone is a specialist. With a minor ailment, a patient may have to visit with several medical professionals before receiving an accurate diagnosis and treatment. Peter Drucker is the exception to that rule when it comes to social, governmental, organizational, and personal trends. He notices what is going on in each area, points out where the current ...
