Shade, The Changing Man Vol. 2: Edge of Vision2 reviews
Peter Milligan

Vertigo, 2009

Smarter than the average comic.
This is a great graphic novel. Too bad that it doesn't come in hardcover.

Aliens Omnibus Volume 3 (v. 3)4 reviews
Ian Edginton, Peter Milligan, ...

Dark Horse, 2008

An awesome collection!
Volume 1 & 2 were both very good collections of some fantastic, and average Alien comics. Female War and Colonial Marines are the two most negative points of the first two volumes, but there isn't anything as substantial as those in Volume 3 that's as big of a let down. Rogue 4/5 If it weren't for some cheesy lines ripping off the first two movies, I'd give Rogue 5 stars. It's one of the mad ...

John Constantine Hellblazer: Scab (Hellblazer (Graphic Novels))2 reviews
Peter Milligan

Vertigo, 2009

Welcome aboard, Peter
There is always a tinge of excitement, especially considering its' lofty and star studded pedigree, whenever a new writer comes on board the legendary Hellblazer series, and this latest trade is certainly no exception as it heralds the arrival of Peter Milligan's tenure on the title. Every writer thankfully brings their own distinct and nuanced style to the character, thus being a key to its' ...

X-Force: Famous, Mutant & Mortal (X-Men) (X-Statix)4 reviews
Peter Milligan

Marvel Entertainment Group, 2003

Not the greatest, but still satisfying
I can't say im a big fan of Marvel in general and X-titles are usually unapealing to me, but i am a fan of Mike Allred. Based on my love for Mike Allred's own Madman, i decided to give X-Force a chance and bought the hardcover version which collects the tpbs as well as some other extras. I wasnt disapointed, the writing by Peter Milligan is decent, better than 80 percent of whats out there at ...

Archive Stories: Facts, Fictions, and the Writing of History1 review

Duke University Press, 2006

Interesting look at archival issues
The book consists of a series of articles written by historians about their archival experiences. The articles present a variety of issues historians must face when visiting archives. Some of the issues are quite shocking, and others are expected. Nevertheless, the book certainly gives future historians tips on what to expect or beware of when visiting archives--whether foreign or domestic. ...

The Canal (The Goon Show, 5)1 review
Spike Milligan, Peter Sellers, ...

Rezound/Radio Reruns, 1954

One of the best.
"The Canal" is one of my favorites of all the Goon Shows (and I've heard every one known to still exist). Not only is it a good cohesive story, there are Addams Family-ish overtones which go perfectly with guest star Valentine Dyall's diabolical characterization. This would be one of my top choices to introduce a newbie to this great, classic radio show.

Bad Company, Book One1 review
Peter Milligan, Brett Ewins, ...

Titan Books Ltd, 1987

Got To Love KANO!!!
Anyone whos ever read 2000ad will definitely love this pretty gruesome book. Lots of great artwork & great characters. the only problem that i have with this book is that the description doesn't seem to tell u that the book is in B&W. Other than that, a great read...

Face (Vertigo)1 review
Peter Milligan

DC Comics, 1995

Hitchcock-ian fun
This is one of the best made comics ever. It's a totally encapsulated one shot, and in my opinion, is the best of the Milligan/Fegredo collaborations. It was the first time I was honestly scared and creeped out while reading a comic. Has this ever been reprinted anywhere? I'd love to have a collected edition to put on my book case.

Catwoman Defiant1 review
Peter Milligan

D C Comics (a division of Warner Brothers - A Time Warner Entertainment Co.), 1998

Great story
This story has Catwoman and Batman teaming up to find Mr. Handsome, a gangster who purchases beautiful things only to destroy them. Catwoman serves as bait to capture him, but she ends up actually being kidnapped. This is a great story for all Batman and Catwoman fans, especially Catwoman since she is the star of this graphic novel. It is full of twists that you will never see coming and has ...

Enigma (DC Comics Vertigo)12 reviews
Peter Milligan

Vertigo, 1995

Third try's a charm!
I attempted to read Peter Milligan and Duncan Fegredo's ENIGMA series back in 1993 and gave up about halfway through it, seeing it as an indulgent mess that would leave me with no explanations as to what was going on. When the trade was released in 1995, I read the whole thing and was annoyed that a story with so many angles would seemingly just boil down to an issue of the main character's ...

Human Target5 reviews
Edvin Buikovic, Peter Milligan

Titan Books Ltd, 2010

Bullseye!
Christopher Chance was a soldier-of-fortune, a man who would disguise himself as someone marked for death then step in front of a bullet, betting his life that his skills and mind were sharp enough not only to save his life but the life of the person that had hired him as well. People called him the Human Target, and the nickname stuck. However, no one could ever guess at the huge price Chance ...

Skreemer1 review
Peter Milligan

Vertigo, 2002

An Excellent Story
Skreemer is an odd science fiction tale, about the end of an era of lawlessness and the beginnings of a new civilization. It is never straight up on what it is about, and shows a remarkable range of characters in its 176 pages. It does however jump around a lot time wise and story wise. Those who like something more straight-forward, then this may not the story for you. There are two basic ...

X-Force Volume 2: Final Chapter TPB7 reviews
Peter Milligan

Marvel Comics, 2002

Tired of X-MEN stories? Well, check this...
At 46 of age and after quite an history of reading comics, I just recently came back to the MARVEL Universe and the work of the ALLREDS (husband and wife I've gathered) sure helped. The stories are very good (MILLIGAN) but the drawings and colors are something else if you are into the "ligne claire" (Hergé, Jacobs, Clerc, Benoit and the like) as much as into Stan LEE. Last, but not least, to this ...

Toxin (Spider-Man) (Venom) (Marvel Comics)1 review
Peter Milligan

Marvel Comics, 2005

Great Hero, So-So Villians Make for Fairly Spectacular Read
"Toxin" is a follow-up to "Venom Vs. Carnage." I was sucked into "V Vs. C" because, besides the allure of those two titans clashing, the comic included Felicia Hardy/Black Cat, and if I ever had a crush on a fictional character, it's Black Cat. Anyway, in that particular comic, the Carnage symbiote gave birth to an offspring, the grandchild of Venom. The new symbiote bonded with Patrick ...

The Goon Show Classics: He's Fallen in the Water! (Previously Volume 11) (BBC Radio Collection)1 review
Spike Milligan, Larry Stephens, ...

BBC Audiobooks Ltd, 1995

As Goon as any.
More Goon Show delirium! The episodes contained within are: 1. The String Robberies 2. The White Neddie Trade 3. The Spon Plague 4. The Mountain Eaters It isn't about anything. Laugh. The sound is 1957 monophonic but still quite good and clear. There are websites with scripts available to help you figure out the more obscure words. It's all really very nice, you know!

The Goon Show Classics: King Solomon's Mines/The Moriarty Murder Mystery/The Vanishing Room/The 1, 000, 000 ...1 review

BBC Audiobooks Ltd, 1996

As Goon as any.
This is Vol. 13 of the BBC series. The programs date fron 1957 and the CD contains the following episodes; 1. Moriarty Murder Mystery 2. King Soloman's Mines 3. #1,000,000 Penny 4. The Vanishing Room The performances are basic Goon Show riot. If you are exploring Goon for the first time, these are as Goon as any. The sound is monophonic but quite good for the age. The voices were close miked ...

X-Statix Volume 1: Good Omens TPB7 reviews
Peter Milligan

Marvel Comics, 2003

Absolutely best superhero/mutant series around.
THE FACTS: writer: Peter Milligan, artists: Mike Allred, Darwin Cooke, Paul Pope; reprints "X-Statix" # 1-5. MY OPINION: I think it's the best mature superhero series being published yet. First of all, the stories (which seem very non-complicated at the first sight) are really original and make reader read all the book in one sitting. They are focusing on the very important fears touching many ...

Sub-Mariner: The Depths1 review
Peter Milligan

Marvel Comics

Cameron meets Namor
Ribic provides dark tones and highlights on characters eyes to emphasize the dark mood of this story. Deep water means troubles, mistery and suspects as Cameron teaches.....

X-Force Volume 1: New Beginning TPB16 reviews
Peter Milligan, Mike Allred

Marvel Comics, 2002

New Beginnings is Right.
This is a completely different comic than the old X-Force in just about every way. It probably should have started as a new title and first issue, instead of issue 116 of a current title. But, that is just about the only thing wrong with it. The overall tone is cynical and humorous, but the drama is still effective. The plots are extremely unpredictable, and the art is perfect for the story.
