Himalayan Quest: Ed Viesturs on the 8,000-Meter Giants13 reviews
Ed Viesturs, Peter Potterfield

National Geographic, 2003

WOW! Sensational photo book!
Very well-designed slightly oversized photo book with THE most astounding Himalayan photos I've ever seen, absolutely incredible! The accompanying text and captions are well-written and very well laid out, the art direction is excellent. I was expecting more of a text-heavy memoir but I'm very impressed with this book. Very highly recommended!

The High Himalaya5 reviews
Art Wolfe, Peter Potterfield

Mountaineers Books, 2001

Beautiful
This book has plenty of the stunning landscape and nature photos I expect from Art Wolfe. It's a most dramatic scenery, and Wolfe's images capture that aspect beautifully. Three short "conversations" with noted climbers help animate the high peaks. Wolfe also includes technical/field notes for each photo. What is wonderfully surprising to me is the light that Wolfe finds in the eyes of the ...

Classic Hikes of the World: 23 Breathtaking Treks11 reviews
Peter Potterfield

W. W. Norton & Company, 2005

By Art Wolfe
Classic Hikes of the World is a classic itself. It is a resource and a book of dreams, directing us to some of the most wonderful corners of our planet while conveying the flavor of each locale. Peter's passion for the wild shines throughout. Peter and I collaborated on The High Himalay and traveld to Patagonia for his book. AW

In the Zone: Epic Survival Stories from the Mountaineering World14 reviews

Mountaineers Books, 1996

With the greatest respect for those that must climb higher
When I was in college, one of my dear friends became paralyzed after a mountain climbing accident. It was a shocking experience because I was very unfamiliar with the sport at the time. I suppose my friend's accident spurred my curiosity but I believe that my early interest in the sport was initiated by fear and wonder. I am fascinated by the mountains that attract those individuals who ...

Washington II1 review

Graphic Arts Center Publishing Company, 1999

Washington II
This is the best photographic essay of Washington. The pictures are lightyears above the competition. True artwork. I am sending this book to friends in London for a good view of life here.

Selected Climbs in the Cascades5 reviews
Jim Nelson, Peter Potterfield

Mountaineers Books, 2003

Could not be a better guidebook.
This is one of the most well done guidebooks I have ever seen. Some of my friends refer to the first volume of this book as "The Bible of Northwest Climbing." This one is destined for the same accolades. The book itself is made of heavy stock paper - something that you can throw around in your car and not worry about too much. The black and white pictures are awesome and the route ...
