Censored 1999: The News That Didn't Make the News3 reviews

Seven Stories Press, 2003

Amazing!
The mainstream press controls what you see on the evening news and for most people that may be find, for the rest you need to read this book. What you haven't been told just might surprise you. From how the United States has undermine the nuclear test ban treaty to tax money use to support death squads and 23 other "missing" stories, you may find yourself outraged and infuriated and maybe a ...

and more stars also!!!!
It is not always possible to find a book in which there are as many good examples of the genre as possible about the same topic. This book satisfies my hunger for that. Many of the stories not only entertain you but also make you think, argue with the others and imagine further (as those great writers in the book once did) about the great mystery of the nature:Life!!!In some of the ...

Rainbows End6 reviews
Peter Webb

Outskirts Press, 2008

A top pick for community library biography collections
During a long life, evading interesting times is near impossible. "Rainbows End" is author Peter Webb's story of his life. Starting from his earliest memories at the age of two, "Rainbow's End" draws the lines through his childhood in England, his time in the military, and his emigration to Canada with his family where he adopted the country as his own. His story is filled with the wisdom and ...

Ephemeral City: Cite Looks at Houston3 reviews

University of Texas Press, 2003

Revealing portrait of a city through its buildings
The best book on Houston that I know. This collection of articles on the architecture of the city captures its aesthetic history (or lack thereof) wonderfully. The book's production quality is clean and beautifully done, and the narratives reveal Houston's vicissitudes - its humble origins, its disinterest in history, its deification of power, and the origins of its sprawl. Excellent.

Splendora, the musical play3 reviews
Stephen Hoffman, Peter Webb, ...

Dramatist's Play Service, 1998

A Gift From Swift
Edward Swift is one of my favorite authors. This book made me laugh out loud and then weep for joy in knowing that a great author like him is writing and living in our midst. Has Oprah heard about this guy? His book, "My Grandfather's Finger" captured my heart and imagination a few years ago and since then I have read all of his books that I can find in print. Such a gift he has for capturing the ...

Hans Bellmer1 review
Peter Webb, Robert Short

Quartet Books, 1986

best review on hans bellmer
I made my dissertation on Hans Bellmer and this is the most complete book about his work. Peter Webb made an important contribution to this important, and sometimes ignore, figure of the surrealist movement.

Death, Desire and the Doll: The Life and Art of Hans Bellmer (Solar Art Directives)1 review
Peter Webb, Robert Short

Solar Books, 2008

Disappointed
I'm familiar with Peter Webb's original edition of this book, Peter Webb with Robert Short, HANS BELLMER (London: Quartet books, 1985), which was handsomely printed. But far too many of the illustrations in this new edition are so tiny that I can hardly make out any details in them. Some of them are scarcely any bigger than postage stamps. What a shoddy way to treat Bellmer's art.
