A Girl Called Madonna (Popjustice Idols)1 review
Peter Robinson

The Friday Project Limited, 2007

Side-splitting funny!
This is one of the funniest books I've read. A while ago, I brought it with me to visit my friend in the hospital. I read it to her to cheer her up. Even for a couple of 34-year olds, we thoroughly enjoyed the children's version of Madonna's life so far.

Probability via Expectation1 review

Springer, 1992

Terribly abstract
I used this book as part of a course called "Probability and Statistics for Engineers." I'm an electrical engineer, and this course and book was supposed to introduce me to probability. This was probably the worst textbook for the course in all of my university undergraduate and graduate experience. It may be that it's a decent book for true statisticians, but it is terrible as an introductory ...

One Afternoon at Mezzegra2 reviews
Peter Whittle

W.H. Allen / Virgin Books, 1969

badly needed a map but otherwise excellent

Remember how often we use to refer to the map while we were reading "Hobbit" - since these are unknown worlds so we need a map to navigate. If you start reading this book then please have a map to Italy close by - it will be handy. All the descriptions become so much clear when you can see the towns, their strategic ...

Look at Me1 review
Peter Whittle

Social Affairs Unit, 2008

Predictable polemic, but well worth saying
This is a slim hardback volume. I devoured it in one sitting. It opens with an interesting comparison of Madame Tussauds, the London waxwork museum, now with how it was in the 1970s. Then it was filled with historical characters from Britain's rich past such as Mary Queen of Scots, Nelson, Dickens, Sir Walter Scott and Byron. Now it is full of tourists giggling and gawping grasping at Brad Pitt's ...
