Whisper of Waves (Forgotten Realms: Watercourse Trilogy Book 1) (v. 1)10 reviews
Philip Athans

Wizards of the Coast, 2005

Refreshing, and simply great
This novel is the opening one of the Watercourse trilogy by Philip Athans. Reading the reviews here, I was skeptic about its quality, understanding it as some kind of a failed G.R.R. Martin wannabe set in FR. Oh, I was so wrong. The story in this book is far from your standard hack and slash fantasy novel, rewritten a million times over. To put it short, it is about a visionary who will reshape ...

Lies of Light: The Watercourse Trilogy, Book II5 reviews
Philip Athans

Wizards of the Coast, 2006

Great - again
Lies of Light is the second installment in Athans' Watercourse trilogy. The first book, Whisper of Waves, was something truly refreshing in WotC publishing. It was really brilliant, and set a high standard for this book to follow. And it did. Story kicks of where the first book left it, so it is absolutely necessary that you read the first novel before this one, or nothing will make sense to ...

War of the Spider Queen Gift Set, Part II (R.A Salvatore Presents the War of the Spider Queen)10 reviews
Lisa Smedman, Philip Athans, ...

Wizards of the Coast, 2006

A good conclusion
The series really takes a turn in the last three book. The focus gets shifted to the battle for Menzoberranzan which is teetering on the brink of destruction. If it falls it could spell disaster for Drow everywhere. If you have ever wanted to read about epic battles of magic between archmages, liches, and shadow assassins, (and who doesn't) these are the books to get. I though it had some of ...

Screw all those people who say this book sucks or whatever...! The series gets better and better... So many things in here you just don't see happening and when they do, they blow you the frak away!! The battles, the gore, the intrigue, the deciet, it's just too good to say anything negative about it. If they say it wasn't good, ask em why they all read 6!!

Venture 100 years into the Forgotten Realms
I just got this book over the mail and I have to say that, after reading it, I love it! I've been a DM for 11 years now and I have been a fan of the Forgotten Realms ever since. This new turn is so magical and so exciting. The drow race is awesome as ever and the sword mage class is so exciting. I can't wait to start running this campaing in 4.0. If you are heistant about 4.0, don't be. Its fun, ...

Scream of Stone (Forgotten Realms: The Watercourse Trilogy, Book 3)7 reviews
Philip Athans

Wizards of the Coast, 2007

Great conclusion to a brilliant trilogy
Scream of Stone is the third and final installment in the Watercourse trilogy by Philip Athans. First two novels truly impressed me with their uniqueness, depth and general quality. This one lives up to the standard. Its should be mentioned that these three novels are in fact a single book divided into volumes, so don't bother trying to read this one before you have read the first two, you will ...

The Halls of Stormweather (Sembia Gateway to the Realms) (bk. 1)6 reviews

Wizards of the Coast, 2007

Very good overall
This one is a collection of short stories, each centered around a member of the Uskevren Family. The short about Erevis Cale is the start of two trilogies about this fellow.

Realms Of War (Forgotten Realms)8 reviews

Wizards of the Coast, 2008

Entertaining
War in the fantasy world can be uplifting or it can be cruel. See what happens when twelve talented authors put their spin on things in REALMS OF WAR.... In Paul S. Kemp's "Continuum", Rivalen was willing to do anything to serve his priestess. But was the cost worth it? Continuum is an entertaining albeit slightly confusing story to readers unfamiliar to the background. It took me a ...

Baldur's Gate: A Novelization84 reviews
Philip Athans

Wizards of the Coast, 1999

A must read...
If you feel yourself a potential writer, and needed to learn what you must not write. Or if you are an acneic teenager, enjoying playing munchkin in RPG, and having trouble dating girls. This book begin agonizing on page 7 on 246, and was frozen dead on page 30. From page 7 we learn the main character (he does not deserve to be call the hero, look in a dictionnary for the definition of a ...

Realms of the Deep (Forgotten Realms)7 reviews

Wizards of the Coast, 2000

Really Great!
This book was great! It helped me understand the series so much more. It lets you know whats happening to other people and other places and not just the main characters and where they travel. I recommend reading this book if you if you like good stories.

Realms of the Dragons II: The Year of Rogue Dragons (Forgotten Realms Anthology)5 reviews

Wizards of the Coast, 2005

More original than most
I thought this anthology had way more original stories than most of the others in the past. Not all of them were great, but that is an anthology for you and a few stand out. The dragons were quite different than I expected and some of the stories used them as the main character. Plus I laughed out loud a few times in the funnier stories especially near the beginning.

Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn (Forgotten Realms: Computer Tie-In Novels)36 reviews
Philip Athans

Wizards of the Coast, 2000

"Based on the best-selling computer game from Interplay"
It's a good thing this warning was placed on the FRONT COVER of the book, lest one gets the impression that the book should include everything found within Baldur's Gate, which by the way has to be one of the BEST computer RPG games of all time (along with Planescape: Torment)! The book is set on the Sword Coast where it deals with the ongoing adventures of the main character, Abdel, and his ...
