Y: The Last Man Vol. 3: One Small Step17 reviews

Vertigo, 2004

If anything, an improvement on the first two books
As I write this, Brian K. Vaughan has finished work on the last issue of his truly massive Y: THE LAST MAN series. In terms of sustained narrative, it will certainly go down as one of the longest, most epic stories in the entire world of comics and graphic novels. The first two books in the series were good, very good, but this one might even be better. There are some wonderful new twists ...

Y: The Last Man, Volume 9: Motherland13 reviews
Brian K. Vaughan

Vertigo, 2007

The heat turns way up.
Although I like the previous issue better than this one, Motherland has it's own perks as the story starts to wrap up for our protagonists. Things get a little strange when one of the characters becomes fatally injured, and Yorick almost REALLY dies this time though not of his own occord. I still have no complaints about this series, there's a damn good fight scene, a couple questions finally get ...

Vertigo, 2003

The plot thickens and the fun continues
The first book in Brian K. Vaughan's Y: THE LAST MAN set up the premise: all the males in the world of every species have died except for loser named Yorick Brown and his pet monkey Ampersand. In the chaos that follows American society is oppressed by totalitarian Amazons, who are marked ideologically by an intense detestation of all things male (in later books they will even try to tear down ...

Brian K. Vaughan

Vertigo, 2006

Great addition to the series
Paper Dolls had so many twists to it that I almost couldn't keep up. This series just gets you hooked and never fails to entertain. If you're looking for an example of why Y The Last Man is so highly regarded, check out volume 4 and this volume.

Unmanned (Y: The Last Man, Vol. 1)68 reviews
Brian K. Vaughan

Vertigo, 2003

Better than I had hoped
Apocalyptic stories and gender politics, two of my favor things to read or watch. "Y: The Last Man -- Unmanned" was intense and gripping. I devoured it and wanted more. I'd heard about this graphic serial for years and am so glad I finally got a copy. I'm not sure I buy the decay of the world quite so much, women are very capable and are in most of the jobs required just not in the majority ...

Image Comics, 2008

A great idea and a great collection!
I got very excited when I first learned that Tori Amos and Neal Gaiman were amassing a comic based on Amos' songs. The finished product does not dissapoint. Each song is a starting point for a particular artists' vision. Some follow the song lyrics, others use the lyrics or feel of the song as a departure point for a stand-alone comic. All are well drawn and well printed, a comic fan's delight. ...

Y: The Last Man is Rad
I'm not sure that I could tell you what Y's core values are, but I feel like they stray from them a bit as the series progresses (parhaps redefined). Moot point though, this is well worth a read. Get them all. I made a decision to own them after I read a friend's first issue....
