Under the Sea Wind6 reviews
Rachel L. Carson

Signet, 1955

Under the Sea-Wind no ordinary adventure
Under the Sea-Wind kept me thoroughly engaged in the lives of the animals above and below the sea as seen by the author, Rachel Carson. Sentence by sentence and page by page I was spell bound with the year spent along the east coast of North America. Awesome book I highly recommend it.

Silent Spring and The Sea Around Us (Signed)1 review
Rachel Carson

Houghton, Mifflin Company and Oxford University Press, 1951

Rachel Carson Classics
I am a huge fan of Rachel Carson who wrote these two classics, "Silent Spring" and "The Sea Around Us". I was disappointed with this order, because the book "Silent Spring" was missing from the order. In addition, the book "The Sea Around Us" promised to have Rachel Carson's signature. Her signature was missing. I received an email from the company who sent it to me...they claimed the book set ...

The Sea Around Us2 reviews
Rachel L. Carson

Oxford University Press, 1951

Mrs. Carson teaches us why we must respect our oceans
she will give you a very profound perspective of what impacts our oceans and why me must respect them. It is a fairly simple and elegant read, that simplifies where we fit into the earth's ecosystems.

The sea around us (A Deluxe golden book)8 reviews
Rachel Carson

Golden Press, 1972

A Must REad
This book should be required reading in every high school in this country. It is fascinting reading of how our eathwas made and what evolved thorugh the centuries. It answered so many quetions I had on how the earth was formed and when. The descriptions are wonderful and so graphic. I have a whole new perspective on our oceans from reading this book.

THE SENSE OF WONDER10 reviews
Rachel Carson

Harper & Row, 1965

An excellent companion to 'Everyday Wonders' by Barry Evans
In continuation of my relentless search for better understanding of perceptual sensitivity & sensory acuity, I am very glad to be able to lay my hands on this wonderful book. To me, I have found it to be an excellent companion to another good book - 'Everyday Wonders: Encountering with the Astonishing World Around Us' - which I have reviewed earlier. Trust me: Once you have read this ...

The Edge of the Sea5 reviews
Rachel Louise Carson

Panther, 1965

Simply Beautiful
Having never heard of Rachel Carson except in relation to "Silent Spring", I was pleasantly surprised on first reading her writing in this book by the masterly and near-poetic elegance of her prose. Written in the 1950s, before nature documentaries allowed most of us to see the wonders of marine life with our own eyes, Carson's ability to introduce those wonders to us through evocatively-written ...

Silent Spring163 reviews
Rachel Carson

Fawcett Crest, 1964

The more things change
Silent Spring created a stir when it was first published and reading it nearly 50 years later feels, in many ways, like deja vu. The specific details may be different, but the overall picture is far too familiar. Chemical companies, government agencies, popular media, special interests, all continue to tell us that we must destroy every organism that might conceivably cause discomfort or ...

Lost Woods (Turtleback School & Library Binding Edition)1 review
Rachel Carson

Turtleback, 1999

A Wonderful Book
The book is a collection of Rachel Carson's discovered writing, but it isn't a simple collection of her essays. Thanks to the excellent editor, Linda Lear, all of the 31 essays are well organized in four parts, and each one begins with an editor's preamble that explains background, Carson's motivation, and other useful information for the specific essay. With those preambles and essays, I had ...
