Have your heart set on a little iggy? Read this book first!
As I read through "The Iguana Handbook", I was sorely disappointed, but not because the book was bad. In fact, the book was so detailed and accurate that it made me reconsider getting a baby iggy until I could house it in its adult form. Too many people get an iguana without thinking about what the future holds, and what needs to be done for one. I am happy to announce that this book will help ...

Very nice addition to more traditional field guides
Although I've only had this book a few days, after several glances and skimming more than a few species accounts I can say with confidence that this reference perfectly compliments Roger Conant's field guide. Since Conant's guide (which is also a five-star book), many taxonomical changes have occurred, rendering Conant very useful, but out-dated in several cases. Bartlett's new guide introduces ...

I couldn't put it down!
I got it and I COULD NOT put it down! I thought it was really good. Except it was missing a few parts. Like in the commercials, there were parts shown that weren't in the book. Despite that though, it was really good and interesting. Before I read it, i couldn't understand why it was rated PG but now, after reading it, I did. Why they put that stuff in a ... movie is something that I have no clue ...

The Pictorial Record of Early America
Great historic photos and maps throughout! In addition to the great chapter on "Mountain Man as Explorer" is a whole section on the Pictorial Record, with seperate chapters on The Artists, The Mapmakers, and The Photographers. This little book is very well done and not a "cure for insomnia" (as Mark Twain wrote about a certain religious text in his book, __Roughing It__).

Astounding David vs Goliath story of citizens vs. a paper mill
The book gives the extensive history and inside story of how a huge corporation was able to use its vast resouces to keep on polluting a small river and avoid paying for health problems it caused. Well written and interesting - almost like a John Grisham book, but non-fiction.

Another funeral for hard science
I read the book, explored their website, watched the videos and decided to attend the seminar in Denver. I was amazed to see the many, many demonstrations by Dr. Bartlett seemingly collapse people's body control as they would slowly bend backwards or suddenly slump to the floor, out like a light for 10 to 20 minutes; sometimes accompanied by the subject's peals of relieved laughter. When the ...

This is by far the best book I have found for tegus. It contains very detailed, easy to understand information. Although mostly focused on monitors, nearly all the information can be applied to tegus as well.

A fun romp through Yellowstone
Richard Bartlett is the author of Yellowstone: A Wilderness Besieged, probably the best and most thoughtful history of tourism in Yellowstone National Park. Here he has turned his attention to fiction, dreaming up a lively and sometimes ribald romance set in Yellowstone during the 1920s. He clearly has fun with the park that he knows so well, surprising his characters with Yellowstone's ...

Bartlett creates masterful images in woodblock and etching
Charles Bartlett, "A printmaker in Paradise" is a must have for any serious scholar or collector in Japanese printmaking. Bartlett was a fantastic artist, that has only been discovered by the educated collectors of fine japanese printmaking. His works often reflect his views on his travels to Holland, India, Japan, Hawaii and other locations in southeast asia. This book is a great resource for ...

One of the best turtle care books on the market!
Though inexpensive, this book provides a wealth of excellent information. It is the most used book in my extensive collection of turtle identification and care books. All turtle owners, beginners and experienced alike, should have this book.

Sweet
This is an enjoyable book, that tells of the problems Jesuit Father Demetrius faces when he comes to the mining cap of Muddy Creek on Christmas Eve and goes in search of a place to hold Midnight Christmas Mass. He is the first priest out there and while his presence does cause some surprise, it also causes some joy and starts off a ripple effect (of good will) that spreads throughout the entire ...

This book accompanied my first iguana!
Living in Japan it's not always so easy to get the exact information I need but I was exceptionally lucky with this book. It covers all the aspects of iguana care and I like the way it especially reinforces the following points: 1. The size of enclosure your iguana will need (Dispencing with the usual glass tank I went out and bought a large glass fronted kitched cabinet straight away!). ...

Thinking Print-expansive thinking /curating by MOMA's Wye
"Thinking Print: books to billboards..." was a groundbreaking late 20th c. exhibition curated by Deborah Wye, a most thorough and original cultural /art historian. Wye is a curator with a fantasitc eye and an obsession for producing exhibitions and catalogs which explore their subject in-depth. In this particular instance, Wye is re-examining definitions and boundaries for the print medium in a ...
