Great book
Great book, but Amazon seems to have problems shipping things this big. Mine was damaged and had to be returned. I have had similar problems with other large books ordered from Amazon. Lately, I have experienced a marked decrease in Amazon service and received multiple damaged books.
Top Gear: My Dad Had One of Those

Enjoyable Read...
All in all, an enjoyable book. It is always interesting to view something from someone else's perspective; in this case, how the Brits view their father's mundane "daily drivers". Interesting to note how Ford products are viewed as somewhat boring, yet popular because products such as the Cortina and the Gran-Dad, er sorry, Granada, were reliable, durable, and stylish in that they copied their ...
My Dad Wished He Had One of Those
Richard Porter,
Giles Chapman
Hodder & Stoughton
, 2008
Dad may have always seemed a man of simple pleasures who only needed a cold drink, a new power drill, and a home cooked meal to be happy. But Dad had dreams too, and don't think he was entirely content with that wood-paneled Dodge Caravan or that Ford Pinto the driveway either. In quiet moments Dad was dreaming of Ferrari Daytonas, Lamborghini Miuras, and countless other gorgeous cars that in truth he could never afford. Packed with ...

An outstanding book and an exquisite recording
This truly remarkable book is unique in several important ways. In the first instance it deals with the music and lyrics of these extraordinary songs in ways that reflect the author's extensive experience as a musician and as a writer on musical subjects, drawing upon his eclectic background to present fresh ideas that illuminate and inform. In the words of Henry Martin, jazz authority and expert ...

I had already posessed intermediate / advanced skill level by the time I originally purchased this book. Since then I have recommended it to everyone I knew who showed an interest in learning the guitar and each person has been impressed. Beginner, intermediate, advanced, there is something for everyone. The graphic format it uses is highly original and provides amazing insight to the mysteries ...

Buy it to learn guitar
An impressive book. It explains in easily understandable terms the range of what a guitar can do. Both theory musicians and players-by-ear can gain from this book. The artist selection mentioned in other reviews has some rather startling omissions. Leo Fender, while not a player in the traditional sense, merited a one-sentence blurb. Les Paul, the man without whom rock would have been very ...

Awesome Book!
I really like this book a lot! I've taken guitar lessons for 3-1/2 years and have bought several books about guitar playing and guitars in general. This is by far the best book that I have found. It contains guitar basics through complex techniques and music theory as well. It also gives some good riffs for various styles which gives the player an opportunity to experiment with styles they might ...

A clear introduction to a complex subject
Although an introduction to political science, this book should also appeal to students of the social sciences. It is clearly laid out, and the comprehensive index enables easy access to specific topics or ideas. I found this particularly useful in completing social science course assignments. The narrative is very readable without losing its academic value. I highly recommend this book to ...

Physics For Geologists
Richard Chapman
CRC
, 1995
All geological processes demand of geologists a broad understanding of science. This text aims to help geologists understand the basic physics behind both common geological processes and the analytical techniques used in geology. It assumes that the reader - whether student, researcher or professional - has forgotten most of the physics learnt at school. The book starts with an elementary discussion of dimensions, SI units, and some crucial ...

This book gives a synoptic description of the practical details of how to carry out the common procedures in imaging on which an examination candidate will be expected to be familiar. Every technique is described under a set of standard headings (e.g. methods, indications, equipment, patient preparation, technique, aftercare, ...

?Carefully reviewing events from 1500 AD to 1830 AD, Coddington and Chapman provide a persuasive list of examples of how they believe God favorably intervened in the establishment of the United States. Regardless of whether you agree or disagree with their arguments, you will be amazed at the number of times the margin between victory and defeat was determined by factors totally outside human control.? ?C.
