Keeper Martin's Tale (Ruin Mist Chronicles, Book 1)241 reviews
Robert Stanek

Reagent Press, 2002

Wonderful author and a great story
My husband and I have been reading Stanek's books since 1998 when he wrote for PC Magazine. He is an incredibly good writer with a clear voice and his work is always brilliantly done. As far as this book, Keeper Martin's Tale, and the others in the series go, there is something remarkable about the Ruin Mist Chronicles, aside from the intricate plot and meticulously built fantasy world, and it is ...

The Kingdoms And The Elves Of The Reaches III (Keeper Martin's Tales)85 reviews
Robert Stanek

Reagent Press, 2004

Enter the Kingdoms!
My 14 yr. old son is a huge fan of the Kingdoms books and I must admit I am too. Robert Stanek is indeed America's Tolkien, a gifted story-teller with a knack for creating believable worlds and fully-realized characters. Many of the characters become like old friends and even the minor characters truly are interesting and real. The story itself is detailed and rich but Stanek doesn't allow the ...

The Kingdoms & The Elves of the Reaches IV (Keeper Martin's Tales, Book 4) (Keeper Martin's Tales)86 reviews

Magical ---- Literally! And this fourth book is a real treat!
The Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches IV ISBN: 15754550658 Magical ---- Literally! I became intrigued by the phenomena of Ruin Mist awhile back, and this review is a long time readers perspective. In many respects, I'm probably the last person who would enjoy this book. I'm a cynic by nature, and my reading habits lean more toward more mature series and more literary works. Or at least ...

Still relevant!

Kingdom Alliance (Ruin Mist Chronicles, Book 2) (Ruin Mist Chronicles)60 reviews
Robert Stanek

Reagent Press, 2003

Can the shattered alliance be restored?
This is the second book in the Ruin Mist Chronicles (RMC) series (after Keeper Martin's Tale). Although I truly enjoyed the first one, this is BETTER than the first one. Stanek is really finding his legs with the series. Stanek is a great writer who builds an incredible world with a compelling history. His characters are also incredible. After the defining battle at Quashan', the heroes find ...

The Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches (Keeper Martin's Tales Series, Book 1)309 reviews
Robert Stanek

Reagent Press, 2002

Good But Continue on to the other books
I first read The Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches as a ninth grader and remember loving it. I then continued on to books 2, 3, and 4, which were excellent. I decided to re-read The Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches books this summer since I found I had forgotten the majority of the story. After re-reading it now as a college freshman, I enjoyed it even more. Clearly it's a remarkable ...

The Kingdoms & the Elves of the Reaches II (Keeper Martin's Tales, Book 2)147 reviews
Robert Stanek

Reagent Press, 2002

BEST series of the decade
To sum it up in one word: AMAZING!!! I discovered this author about four years back when I read his "The Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches #1." I've since read everything he's written and have multiple editions of each. My favorite editions of the illustrated ones - all of the illustrated ones are top shelf. Many reasons to like a good Stanek novel have been pointed out in the reviews. His ...

Mark of the Dragon (Ruin Mist Chronicles)9 reviews
Robert Stanek

Reagent Press, 2005

Gripping Conclusion
In this final installment of what has turned out to be a truly great fantasy work, Stanek continues the captivating tale of Elves and Men and the Kingdoms they live in. The alliance is shattered. The Battle of Quashan' was only the beginning. Now the kingdom folk must pick up the pieces and rebuild their lives. This was easily the best book of this series. He continues to paint a vivid picture of ...

In the Service of Dragon = addiction
Just a warning here, these books are like potato chips, it's very difficult to eat only one!!! ...and then you'll find yourself walking around singing Eldrick's song of the tree brothers or longing to reread the part where Vilmos plays Edward in King's Mate or wanting to jump ahead to get to the next trio match. I bought this book around Christmastime and found the story to be fascinating. As ...

Journey Beyond the Beyond: Special Edition (Magic Lands Book #1) (Magic Lands Book)3 reviews
Robert Stanek

Reagent Press, 2006

Why kids AND adults should read the Magic Lands
Remember those times as a kid when you picked up a book and got lost in it? Well, this is such a book. I read Journey Beyond the Beyond a few years back and I was immediately drawn in to this truly magical story. This is a thrilling, edge-of-the seat read, even for an adult like me. You'll be swept away in an amazing world and desperately desire to become part of this magical universe. Robert ...

Fields of Honor (Ruin Mist Chronicles)20 reviews
Robert Stanek

Reagent Press, 2005

Truly Outstanding
Very well-written and complex, and, as others have said be prepared for plot twists and turns. It is no exaggeration to say that among the ever-increasing number of multi-volume fantasy series, each thicker than the last, that Robert Stanek's "Ruin Mist Chronicles" is the clear exception. The books are relatively short, the pacing is fast, and theres a hekc of a lot going on. With wonderful ...

Elf Queen's Quest (Ruin Mist Chronicles: Dark Path)63 reviews
Robert Stanek

Reagent Press, 2002

Good with caveats
Ruin Mist Chronicles is an excellent series, but you need to read the books in proper order. It goes Keeper Martin's Tale, Kingdom Alliance, Fields of Honor, Mark of the Dragon. The Ruin Mist Dark Path if you've read it, provides an alternate telling of the story of Ruin Mist. I have an original edition of Keeper Martin's Tale and Elf Queen's Quest. Both begin with a preface that explain this, ...

Reagent Press Books for Young Readers, 2007

More adventures with Buster and friends!
Buster Bee Visits Mom and Dad at Work became my son's favorite bed time story. We read it so many times and I was delighted to find there are more Buster adventures. Buster is nervous as he is starting school. His mother tries to tell him everything will be alright. He is thankful he knows some other bugs that'll be starting school too. He tries to be brave when he goes to school. When he ...

In the Service of Dragons II (Keeper Martin's Tales)17 reviews
Robert Stanek

Reagent Press, 2005

WOW!!!
This is a terrific book. More along the lines of 'LORD of the Rings' than Harry Potter. Great characters from heroes like Prince Valam Alder and his men to the young wizard Vilmos to the mysterious Xith and the lovely Adrina and her sisters plus the dragon Tnavres. Great writing, terrific adventure, a MUST READ for any fastasy fan.

Baseball and Critters - a grand combination
I've purchased so many picture books lately it's satisfying to find one the kids truly adore and that is fun to read as a grown up. We have a blast introducing the characters, reading Buster's letters and going through the story. Such fun! This ones a winner!!

The Elf Queen and the King (Ruin Mist Tales Series)34 reviews
Robert Stanek

Reagent Press, 2002

Start with The Kingdoms and the Elves
The Elf Queen and the King provides an alternate telling of the story of Ruin Mist. It's meant for true fans of The Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches books. If you're a fan, these are good. Enough said.
