A Smart, Comprehensive Strategy for Presidential Election Reform
A comprehensive and very well-organized plan to reform the way we elect the president so that everyone's vote literally counts. An incredible brain trust has gathered within these pages, and they make the airtight case that a compact between the states - rather than amending the Constitution - is the surest way to make irrelevant the dinosaur that is the Electoral College, and elect the ...

Altough the book is 10 years old it provides a self regulatory model that can be used today. It outlines the academic skills, and how to use these skills that, our at risk population can use immediately. The most important concept it details the pure pleasure of satisfaction as the student succeeds under the tutelage of their teachers. This becomees the needed motivation so severely lacking in a ...

The Best Introduction to Robert's Rules
If you are new to Robert's Rules, this is the best introduction. It covers all areas and summarizes key points and provides lucid examples of putting it in action. Of course it doesn't cover all the material of the main version of RR, but it's the best place to start. It will probably give 95% of people all they need w/o having to muddle through the RR original (which is tedious.) I've also ...

Saved us at the end of a long road trip!
I pulled this game out at the end of a long road trip when the kids were unmanageable. They immediately started playing, entertaining my 4 and 12 year-old equally. My husband asked "why didn't we pull this out sooner?!?" It was so much fun to see people responding to my daughter waving and doing peace signs. We found people responded much better to her than my 12-year old boy :-)

NASA's Greatest Success, Warts and All
This history of the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) is both thorough and interesting. It starts decades before launch, when HST was just a crazy idea, and goes up to (almost) today. No one involved gets a free ride. Although the author obviously supports NASA's mission in general (and the Space Telescope in particular) he is up front about the flaws, foibles, and failings of the people, ...

Great family travel game!
This is an awesome game for in the car. It doesn't matter if we are going on a short trip or a long one, my son (9years old) always reaches for the deck of Rubberneckers first thing. We keep it in the car so we know we won't be without it. Even we adults have fun searching for the objects on the cards. Would definitely recommend it!

Excellent!
Zimmerman's book about the voyage of Apollo 8 was excellent. It is as good as the books written by Jim Lovell and Andrew Chaikin. The book is an easy read and flows very smoothly. It has an unusual style in that the book alternates between the "present" and personal recollections from the astronauts as they were growing up. It serves to put into context how the world had changed when they became ...
The Annuity From Mystery to Mastery
Robert, J. Zimmerman
Dog Ear Publishing, LLC
, 2006
Most people can comfortably explain how a savings account works at their bank. But when asked how a savings account works at an insurance company, they are not so sure. Such is the mystique of the word - annuity. Similarly, many are familiar with the way mutual funds work as investments. However, if you connect those same mutual funds with an insurance company in a variable annuity, they somehow have a different aura. Now we have a new ...

The only fundraising book you will ever need!
The authors challenge traditional attitudes, and fears, about fundraising by arguing that we should view the activity not as "tin-cup begging" but as providing a way for people to invest positively in their communities. The authors break new ground by focusing on benefits that *donors* derive from philanthropic giving and strategies to enhance these benefits. With exercises entitled "What Moves ...

Insight from the Russian Experience in Space
Robert Zimmerman, space historian and enthusiast, combines a love of technical issues with extensive background research in this account of the nine space stations flown so far by the Soviet Union (now Russia) and the United States. As the full title suggests, Zimmerman sees an important rarely stated purpose for the stations: learning how to maintain, operate, and work within vessels that ...

My choice for Mathematica books for physics
This rather compact book has given me hours of delight. There are many helpful examples; examples that reflect real problems. A drawback for many Mathematica books is that they revolve around easy examples, and that their utility is limited in the interest of clarity. Zimmerman and Olnes display two areas of expertise: Mathematica and physics. It is clear that they are seasoned practitioners ...
