Road Kill (Insomniacs)2 reviews
S. R. Martin

Econo-Clad Books, 2001

My kids loved it.
I'm not one for children's books, especially horror, but when my eight year old raved on constantly about this I had to sit down and read it. After a couple of pages I was hooked. It involves strange subterranean creatures who live on the Black Track, which is a road running through the Australian desert. They capture a young boy who has been thrown from a car after an accident, and spend the ...

Gentry's Rio Mayo Plants: The Tropical Deciduous Forest and Environs of Northwest Mexico (Southwest Center ...3 reviews
Paul S. Martin, David A. Yetman, ...

University of Arizona Press, 1998

Hidden treasure
I was given the opportunity to catalog Dr. Gentry's herbarium collection at the Desert Botanical Garden in 1987-88. I haven't seen the new edition mentioned here, but read the original work at the time I was cataloging his herbarium specimens. Through it, I was able to share his experience as an explorer in the spirit of John Wesley Powell, someone who knew that the American southwest is ...

Fishing (Golden Guides)6 reviews
George S. Fichter, Phil Francis

Golden Books Pub Co (Adult), 1987

"Golden Books" continue to enlighten, thrill & educate.
"Golden Books" were great for my children and grandchildren, and now their "Fishing", "A Guide To Fresh and Salt-water", book helps me with salt-water fish identification and tackle preparation. I have recently relocated to the S.C. coast and do a lot of salt-water fishing. With all of the rules and regulations relative to fish size and limits, "Fishing" comes in handy in identifying the ...

Dewey Decimal Classification and Relative Index2 reviews
Melvil Dewey

OCLC Online Computer Library Center, 2003

A must for students.
As a Library Assistant studying for my Library Technician degree this set of books became my best friend. While most colleges or universities will have copies for loan, I found that I oftened added things to the book, thus the importance of having your own copy. The first volume covers the rules for using and assigning DDC numbers. The second and third volumes contain the schedules / ...

The Skolfields and their ships : "a singleness of purpose"1 review
Erminie S. Reynolds, Kenneth R. Martin

Maine Maritime Museum

A superb resource on maritime history and commerce
This book documents how one shipping family began a career in maritime entrepreneurship that ultimately spanned three centuries. Using primary source documents, particularly commerce records, account books and ship's logbooks, Erminie Reynolds and Ken Martin have woven a highly readable, energetic chronicle of shipbuilding that transcends previous histories on these topics. Several ...

Diving and Snorkeling Guide to Cozumel (Pisces Diving & Snorkeling Guides)1 review
George S. Lewbel, Larry R. Martin

Pisces Books, 1991

Found most of the sites I dived in this book!
I took this with me this past May to Cozumel, where I went diving. I was happy to be able to read and hi-light the pluses and minuses of the water conditions there. I always order these Lonely Planet books months BEFORE my trip, not only to see if it is really where I want to go, but also as my guide when I am there! They contain, JUST ENOUGH INFORMATION, without overkill. Nice colorful ...

Pediatric Emergencies: A Manual for Prehospital Care Providers (2nd Edition)1 review
Martin R. Eichelberger, Geraldine S. Pratsch, ...

Prentice Hall, 1997

A must for your medical bookshelf!
This is one of the most valuable pediatric resources ever written. While the title suggests that it is written for the prehospital community, the no nonsense approach to pedaitric emergencies has application for anyone caring for children, from EMT to MD. There is something here for everyone to learn. The book's organized approach begins by highlighting growth & developement and how ...

Wastelands: Stories of the Apocalypse25 reviews
Stephen King, Cory Doctorow, ...

Night Shade Books, 2008

A fine collection of Apocalypse stories by great authors
With anthologies, I normally list the Table Of Contents, however because it can be viewed by rolling your mouse over the second available image below the book picture, I won't list it. There are 22 stories in this collection, by such authors as Stephen King, George R.R. Martin, Orson Scott Card, Nancy Kress, and many more. Each story begins with a short paragraph of notes and achievements by ...

Talk to Me: How to Create Positive Loving Communication1 review
S. R. Martin

Positive Publishing, 1997

It changed my relationships and my life for the better.
My partner and I weren't getting along. We were fighting all the time and were talking about separating until we read the book. We both realized that we needed to change our attitudes and how we communicated. "Talk to Me" showed us how to do that. We are so much happier now. Their suggestions are great. It was really easy to read and follow their guidelines. I wish I'd had this book a ...

Swampland5 reviews
S. R. Martin

Rebound by Sagebrush, 2000

Swampland
Swampland grabbed me instantly on the first few pages. The story develops quite well with the strange visit to the swamp, Zac explaining about the twins, and the creepy end. One thing I didn't like was that it was so short. But that's only a minor detail. In the future, though, I hope S.R. Martin writes longer books. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to be suprised.

Endsville (Swampland Trilogy)3 reviews
S. R. Martin

Scholastic, 2000

This was a cool book to read.
Hi its me again. If you looked at the reviews for tankworld imthere too.Mutants were a nice touch. I loved the long journey thatoccupied most of this book. What was the background of the book was weird. Fighting over remains of water and who they fought against. The people who come to Zacs aid at the end are familiar people. Read and find out!

The Algorithmic Beauty of Plants (The Virtual Laboratory)2 reviews
Przemyslaw Prusinkiewicz, Aristid Lindenmayer

Springer, 1991

All the detail you need to produce your own graphical plants
The beauty of plants has attracted the interest of mathematicians for centuries. Plants have many conspicuous geometric features such as symmetry in their leaves, rotational symmetry in their flowers, and then there are the interesting helical arrangements of pine cone scales. This book examines two factors that organize plant structures and therefore contribute to their beauty. The first is the ...

The Hedge Knight20 reviews
George R. R. Martin, Ben Avery, ...

Devil's Due Publishing, 2004

Excellent Tale of Chivalry
To begin with, I have enjoyed the Song of Fire and Ice from the beginning, and I have been itching for the new book for some time. When I heard there was a graphic novel, I was both interested and disappointed. The first because it was another tale in a very interesting setting. The second because A Feast of Crows had been running late and would rather have had the book instead of the graphic ...

Bt Bound, 2001

Great Middle School Book!
S. R. Martin does a great job of writing quick, captivating mysteries that will grab your middle schooler's attention. Great for kids who are struggling readers and are overwhelmed at the thought of a thick chapter book. Also, great for read-a-loud.
