Very entertaining, Great listening while driving.
A series of very entertaining short stories, totalling almost three hours in length. Some will make you laugh out loud, some will bring tears. I listened while on a long trip and these tapes make the miles fly by. Great intro music should be available on a seperate album. The narrator is very engaging, reminiscent of Charles Kuralt. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Essential for researchers of this family
This is an excellent book on this family and includes much documentation of cemeteries, military service, census records, etc. It includes the author's 30 years of research, as well as the research of past and contemporary West family researchers. The book is a quality paperback.

New to Life Planning
Life planning is much more than a catch phrase, it is a complete different way of doing financial planning. Gone are the days of asking our clients to simply fill out a financial questionnaire listing out our client's assets, liabilities, job titles, and insurances. The goal of a financial advisor should not be to see what investments we can sell our clients and which insurance products we can ...

If you are a financial advisor you need to read this book
I manage a branch office and maintain my own book of business. I try to get my advisors to read and learn form this book. When i read this book my personal production was seventh out of 28 reps. I have implemented many of the ideas in this book and now rank second out of 43 reps. I attribute much of this leap forward to what I learned in this book.

Great for all kids.
This is a great book for kids. My three loved it. The oldest could read it by herself but I read it to the other two. They stayed interested the whole time. I hope they make a series of these. I'll gladly buy them all.
Fitzgerald: The Beautiful and Damned (The Cambridge Edition of the Works of F. Scott Fitzgerald)

A must-read--before it's made into a movie
Nearly ninety years after its first publication, _The Beautiful and Damned_ is still a shockingly relevant account of the entitlement class, the children of the rich or privileged who don't know how to navigate through life without big money. And, it's a New York City novel--written as only a mid-westerner can. It seems to me that because New Yorkers are too much in the middle of it to see ...

Too bad this neat little book is no longer in print
Don't let the small size fool you. This book is packed with detailed identification information for the Georgia and South Carolina region. I had no idea that a species could look so different based on a small geographic area. Also, it focuses on the most commonly sighted snakes not just the poisonous ones. My husband looked for weeks for a better field guide and this was clearly the best.

a new approach when facing competing storylines
The Language of Trust reads like a manual for communicating complex issues in an environment of growing cynicism. It's got a nice balance of principles, working examples, and research-driven insights. The book includes lots of topical coverage of perception challenges faced by financial services, the environment, healthcare, energy, and policy campaigns, to name some of the industries covered. ...

A Must-Read for Gatsby/Fitzgerald Fans
I first encountered "The Great Gatsby" in 11th grade and its sheer lyric beauty has transfixed me to the point of at least 4 readings per year ever since. Therefore, "Trimalchio" was a joy for me to read and I believe it will bring the same amount of happiness to fellow Fitzgerald fans. The book is a brief read at only 146 pages of actual text,( as opposed to "Gatsby's" 189 in the most recent ...

Seven Seasons of Buffy: Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Discuss Their Favorite Television Show

A great re-read
I re-read "Seven Seasons of Buffy" in a lull between book deliveries and enjoyed it about as much as last time. It's a collection of essays by sci-fi writers on what was definitely one of the best series on TV IMHO. It leans a little heavy on romance and "who's Buffy's ideal man", but is a very good read overall. Intelligent writers, good content. If you liked Buffy you'll love this.

Form and Finesse
Fitzgerald's stories manage to unite his otherworldly grasp of the fluctuations in the human soul. He is a master at presenting its contrivances and vanities as things that happen to people. The tension in these tales rises with almost unconscious force. Red herrings of possible conclusions are whispered but almost in the style of a trickster. Someone always gets conned and someone unmasked- ...

Great Intro to the subject

A Love Story For The Whole Family
My husband and I purchased the book as a gift for our son to read on our vacation to Marthas Vineyard. It is a loving tribute to Mr. Shields golden retriver Bear and his mother Honeybear. It highlights the darkest days of September 11,2001 but it also speaks to the loving bond between a man and his dog. This is a story for the whole family. I have now purchased several more copies to donate to ...

The ending redeems itself
Throughout most of the book, I found myself thinking, "This is one case where I like the movie better." Although the plot for the first 3/4 of the book is the same as the movie's, the characterization is a bit different. For example, the movie portrays Rose as a determind, principled, yet prim woman who slowly learns to love; in the book, she comes across as a bit immature, supposedly the result ...

Youth speaks.
When first published in 1920 This Side of Paradise rapidly became a bestseller and launched the career of its 24 year old author, F. Scott Fitzgerald. The novel's protagonist, Amory Blaine, is clearly a stand-in for Fitzgerald himself. The book traces Amory's life from early childhood to young adulthood and describes in great detail his challenges and conflicts as he reaches maturity in the very ...
