We can't say that we were not warned
This book was pretty much what I expected: a loud siren acting as a wake-up call to the Obama administration. But, to my surprise, it turned out to be a lot more. I learned a great deal here. The most surprising thing: JFK was a supply-sider! Back in the early 60s, Democratic President John F. Kennedy was proposing tax cuts to get the economy moving, and the NAY-SAYERS were a bunch of ...

A Celebration of The Maryland Terrapins
In 2002 I had the honor of working with the legendary Johnny Holliday on his autobiography, "From Rock To Jock." This detailed account of the "Voice of The Terps" life was critically acclaimed as an entertaining and significant history of broadcasting, Top 40 radio, and sports through the eyes of Johnny. We became close friends during the two years we worked on "From Rock To Jock", and this ...

The Contagion of Jesus
This is a wonderful book! It is amazing that Sebastion Moore was 90 when he wrote it. It is a beautiful guide to progressive theology in the church. I wore out my highlighter underlining the meaningful passages.

Sowing the Seeds
Here is the final installment of Alan Moore's tremendous and groundbreaking run on the Swamp Thing series, collecting original issues #57-64. Moore brings to a precise ending his take on the character and his breathtaking development as an elemental spirit, but with plenty of room for future writers to continue the series. We also see the apotheosis of Moore's strong horror (and increasingly, ...

Super Reader
This book is actually very good. It is great to have V as a point of view character at times, such as when he sees the unconscious Evey in Jordan Towers, or confronting Creedy underground.. This may well be one of the best 'tie-in' efforts ever produced. Some of the political and other history related to countries other than England is given more detail in the novel.

the beginning of a horror masterwork
"No death, no doom, no anguish can arouse the surpassing dispair which flows from a loss of identity. Merging with nothingness is peaceful oblivion; but to be aware of existence and yet to know that one is no longer a definite being distinguished from other beings - that one no longer has a self - that is the nameless summit of agony and dread." - H.P. Lovecraft The ability to communicate ...

In 1995, the Lollapalooza maelstron plundered thru the cities & towns of America, a [diamond] sea of noise & beats changing lives & generally having fun. That's what I'm lead to believe anyway. Thurston is more or less the star here as he was in 1991: the Year Punk Broke, & there's some other cool & crazy kids there too. He writes in his typically amusing & insightful style about the Mexican ...

Excellent job!
On a warm, partly cloudy afternoon on Thursday, April 21st in 1836 a smaller, poorly trained, ragtag army attacked a larger, better equipped force. In 18 minutes, a nation was born and over a million acres of land changed ownership. Ranked as one of the decisive battles of the western world, the author has done an excellent job tracing the history of the San Jacinto Campaign of the Texas ...

It could be titled "I didn't know!"
Sports fans here in Maryland know Johnny as the energetic voice of Terp basketball and football. But I DIDN'T KNOW he had such a great run as a DJ in Rock and Roll. He was always in the right place at the right time. Cleveland in the early days of R&R, San Francisco in the mid to late 1960s, New York at Beatles time, etc. For those who remember his R&R days, they will say "I DIDN'T KNOW" when ...

Speaking from experience?where things can go wrong and wrongs can remain unrighted?the five modern thinkers in this collection offer ways to maintain a spiritual life outside of a strictly religious context. Based on the acknowledgement that religious doctrine and academic paradigm do not always have adequate answers for the world's complicated problems, the essays draw on a rich mosaic of beliefs, customs, and study to address issues from ...

I Cried, I Laughed, I Cried Some More
When I found this item on the audiobook rack at my local bookstore (the one with the cafe stapled onto it) it took me at least an entire minute to figure out what it was I was looking at. I thought it must be a reissue of the original radio episodes (from 25 years ago) or a new reading by somebody or other. Gradually it dawned on me like a sledgehammer through molasses that this was an all-new ...
