Kay A. Robbins, Steven Robbins

Springer, 2001

This book examines the issues relevant to the design of vector and pipelined computer systems using the Cray X-MP/24. The purpose of the book is to help the readers arrive at a deep understanding of how vector processing systems really work. These insights will be useful to the scientist who would like to obtain maximum performance from a vector machine, to the computer science student, and to the compiler writer. The book can also be used to ...

Intuitive Probability and Random Processes using MATLAB6 reviews
Steven Kay

Springer, 2005

Intuitive as it says
It's a great book for probability. Explain the abstract concept in an easy way. You will find out that you go through all those difficulties just by following the author. I got full point in my first quiz which was never the case for my math courses.

The Classic Mother Goose (Children's Storybook Classics)3 reviews

Courage Books, 1997

This book changed my life for the better.
I got this book when I was little and now I want this book for my little girl. My favorite nursery rhyme is the one about the Crooked man. I reccommend everyone buying this book for their children.

Myths and Realities of Executive Pay
Ira Kay, Steven Van Putten

This book answers the question 'Are CEOs overpaid?' with a resounding 'No.' Defying dogma and business myths, it documents the realities of executive pay in the United States and the forces that have shaped pay in recent years. Practical UNIX Programming23 reviews
Kay A. Robbins, Steven Robbins

Prentice Hall PTR, 1995

practical it is
This is the type of book that doesn't leave you with more questions than it answers. It doesn't just discuss the concepts and then you're on your own for coding. It gives you enough code and explanation so that you can implement mutex locks, semaphores, threads, etc. It doesn't force you to go search online for code samples. I refer to this book often, and not just when writing code for Unix.

Fundamentals of Statistical Processing, Volume I: Estimation Theory (Prentice Hall Signal Processing Series)8 reviews
Steven M. Kay

Prentice Hall PTR, 1993

Legendary and masterpiece in estimation theory
Without any hesitation, I consider this book as a masterpiece in the area of statistical signal processing. Kay takes the reader to the journey of estimation theory as if a science teacher takes his students to a field trip. The one special feature of this book is the convergence of thought that reader obtains upon reading the book. Kay lays a fundamental bridge between various estimators using ...

Fundamentals of Statistical Signal Processing, Volume 2: Detection Theory (Prentice Hall Signal Processing ...8 reviews
Steven M. Kay

Prentice Hall PTR, 1998

nice book in signal detection
It is a nice book about signal detection. The content is well organized. It combines application with theory and put complex theoretical staff in appendix so it is easy to follow. In particular, I like the beautiful language in this book.

Modern Spectral Estimation: Theory and Application/Book and Disk (Prentice-Hall Signal Processing Series)2 reviews
Steven M. Kay

Prentice Hall, 1988

Pretty good in general but check out Stoica as well.
Kay explains the somewhat difficult concepts of spectral estimation in a simple straight forward manner. I especially liked his explanation of the Levinson algorithm. Not too much emphasis on matrix notation and seeing things from a linear algebra standpoint. Stoica is pretty good at this.

Ecological Integrity and the Management of Ecosystems
Steven Woodley, James Kay

CRC, 1993

Today, efforts are being made to rehabilitate badly degraded ecosystems and protect areas which have important ecological value, such as national parks, critical fish and wildlife habitats, natural communities and endangered species. Since human values are an integral part of the decisions to protect or rehabilitate-the goals and objectives for such actions are often unclear. Concepts of "health," "integrity" and "diversity" express important ...

In Their Footsteps (Harlequin Single Title)5 reviews
Tess Gerritsen, Amanda Stevens, ...

Harlequin, 2004

Good mystery
This book is not the typical story for ms Gerritsen. Usually her books are in the medical field. This is way off that track. this is a story of a woman who's parents were killed 20 years ago. She recently discovers that there is more to their deaths then what she was told. She flys to Paris for answers. Now someone is out to kill her and her brother. Some secrets aren't meant to be known. ...
