Excellent book for the end of the day exhaustion!
Most women end their day exhausted, stressed and wondering if it is all worth it. This book closes the day perfectly with meditations, comments, and insights that sometimes take you by surprise but always make you feel good about yourself and your life.

This book will nourish you and help you grow!
I keep this book and its sisterbook, "A Woman's Book of Courage", in my bottom desk drawer at work. From time to time, whenever I feel depressed, uncertain, insecure, I read passages from these books and feel immediately uplifted. My sense of confidence is restored, and I get back to work.

One of the best friends I've ever had!
Years ago I opened this book and recognized myself in too many ways. Through gentle nudging and no nonsence from Sue, I was encouraged to admit "Hey, that's me!", followed by understanding, then action to change. This book changed my life, and continues to do so, as every so often when I can feel myself slipping into self doubt &/or martrydom I pick it up again. I can't lend it out because I ...

Highly Recommended!
"Fundamentally, we are spiritual beings with soul as our essence, our most basic quality. We've forgotten. I continue to forget on a daily basis. Consequently, it seems to me that a huge spiritual lesson for most of us is to remember, to re-evolve into simplicity of spirit, and invite the natural, inherent essence of our Selves back to the fore of our lives, to `become like little children.' I ...

Words We Know, But Need Hearing
When I picked up this book at first, I thought that it would be good. The title alone provoked interest in me. What is the ultimate test of an inspiring book is how the author arranges the words together to make it different than just saying it. Sue Patton Thoele has a wonderful way with words! I would read one thought and then another and then another! Hard to stop! This is a wonderful ...

Cultivating a More Positive Life
I love finding books like this with inspiring words of wisdom. Thoele suggests thinking of ways to be a better friend to yourself. Note the ideas like giving yourself more compliments or getting a massage and then start making them happen with small steps everyday. Since most of us don't take the time to nurture ourselves, this book makes you think (and hopefully take action).

My "Heart Centered Marriage"
Only a year and half ago, I announced to my partner that I simply did not believe in marriage, and I would not ever consider it under any circumstances. Today, we are happily married! When considering marriage, we had discused the pros and cons. It offered the commitment we wanted, but with that came patriarchal gender roles, impossible promises, and, as he put it, "a passionless existence ...

A beautifully written, powerful book
This is a lovely work of art, written with both eloquence and simplicity. Every chapter gives a down-to-earth example and clear, concise directions on how to cope with problems both mundane and heartbreaking. Best of all Sue Patton Thoele knows how to speak to the heart. She understands the complexity of problems without being overwhelmed by them. Having this book is like carrying around a ...

Great Gift For 50th Birthday
Excellent read. I received this book as a 50th birthday present. It describes the positive side of 50+, the freedoms we can allow ourselves. I have found it to be true to my experience of 50+. I am giving it to a friend who is turning 50 as I know it will be a positive reinforcement to this great time of her life. Some of my favorite topics are: Laugh at Forgetfullness, Realize That ...

Excellent help
I read this book quite a while ago and am recommending it to a friend who will also become a step-mom soon. The best advice is: "Don't try to be the "birth-mom", you won't replace her and you can't deal with the comparison with the other woman. Also, the advice to step back, I had a huge issue whenever my stepdaughter misbehaved that it was a reflection on my parenting and me. Rather than just ...

A book that guides you to mindfulness
I dived into The Mindful Woman, and whipped through part one, admiring the writing and synthesis of LOTS of information presented elegantly and simply. I slowed down in part two, where she offers practical examples, savoring each sweet bite of advice and wisdom. I honor the brilliance of what Sue Thoele has accomplished. It is not merely a book about mindfulness: Sue has created a mindfulness ...

connecting to your trust issues
For any of you who have been hurt--by a dysfunctional family situation or an adult betrayal--this book is helping me to connect how the past is inhibiting me from having all life has to offer. After reading the first 20 pages, I had a few tactics and goals to make a difference in my life. It also confirmed for me that self-trust is the basis for the other types. It's well worth the investment ...
