A Treasure of a Read
This story left me both exhilarated and downcast. The first from the incredible storytelling and the characters, the second because I realize how little I know. No one I've read has managed to see feminine relationships with the kind of penetrating sympathy that Susan Kelly does. Nevertheless, they engaged me instantly. I had to know how Frances and Libba could possibly become friends. The ...

Terrific book considering the subject matter!
I read a number of books about this subject, and this is one of the best written. Susan Kelly interjects humor and irony at just the right moments and for a true crime account, it reads more like a novel. I truly enjoyed this book.

A winner
In Hungerford, Thames Valley Police Superintendent Gregory Summers has no time to rest on his laurels after successfully handling a dangerous hostage situation. Six year old Jordan Abbot is missing with the only clue being a good Samaritan stating he saw the lass heading towards the nearby Gypsy camp. The police soon find the corpse of the little girl. Pictures surface showing Jordan with a ...

Photograpic view of the social life along old 66
This books contains all that is needed to make the reader -or viewer- want to travel the road, even just by looking at the pictures. It isn't called a photographic essay for nothing. The text is more social oriented and is probably one way to look at the 20th century and its cultural heritage along Historic Route 66. Those readers going travel old 66 might be a little bit disappointed that it ...

Great book!
This is the best guide to the DC and surrounding area, but in some cases this book needs to be updated. Some attractions have relocated or closed since the book was published. Fortunately, the book lists phone numbers and websites so you can make sure of the current location and hours of operation. I would highly recommend it to anyone, with or without kids, who wants to see the sights in DC ...

The Truth at Last
I have just acquired a copy of this book from a second-hand bookseller, and am astonished to find that it's out of print and there has apparently never been a paperback edition. I followed the Strangler case as each new murder was reported in the UK press, and it remains the archetypal horror story for me because it proves conclusively that one isn't safe even (above all) at home. I also ...

The best one yet!
My three year old loves watching Little Einsteins on television so when the books first came out I was thrilled. This book is a new story (not taken from an episode) and is written to appeal to a younger audience. It is not overly verbose or complicated. The focus is on the music of nature that is around us every day and children are encouraged to imitate the sounds as they read about them. I ...

The perfect gift for anyone who loves Boston
With information about Boston's colleges, neighborhoods and historical sites, it's a coffee table book that could double as a guide book for residents and visitors alike. It would make the perfect gift for a student at one of the area's colleges who needs to know more about what the city has to offer.

Excellent, gripping mystery
Susan Kelly is like the British Iris Johansen--she writes fast paced, intense mysteries with complex, likeable characters and just enough twists to keep you guessing until the end. In this book, Gregory Summers, the detective from the also excellent The Lone Traveller, appears again, this time investigating a murder and an illegal immigrant smuggling ring. Summers is far from perfect, which make ...

Easy to understand. Easy to follow. Easy to Remember!
Mastering WordPerfect 5 by Susan Baake Kelly is a the best way I have come across to get a very good understanding of a very complicated program. Susan uses step by step instruction with each chapter adding on to the prior chapter. One can use this as an instructional manual, as I did, or as a reference guide, as I do. The book is thick, but that is because Susan goes into step by step ...

Fresh, unusual poetry
I loved this highly original chapbook, which brilliantly encompasses big themes. What links the poems is art--or rather the arts. Unlike the usual poem based on a work of art, these do not lean on someone else's creation, but spring from life's raw material. Sometimes the author employs a finished composition, a painting by Bellini or O'Keefe, for example, as a springboard for her enigmatic ...
