The Christopher Lee Filmography: All Theatrical Releases, 1948-20033 reviews
Tom Johnson, Mark A. Miller

McFarland & Company, 2004

More than a laundry list - Real Film Scholarship
Exhaustive without being exhausting, authors Miller and Johnson manage to transcend the trend of "lists" by not only providing the details of Christopher Lee's myriad film works, but accompanying the facts with delicious anecdotes and observations. Each and every film has an accompanying commentary - and each and every commentary is a treasure trove of information either from Lee himself or one ...

Avengers: Galactic Storm, Vol. 11 review
Bob Harras, Tom DeFalco, ...

Marvel Comics, 2006

One last hurrah for the House of Ideas
Once upon a time there was a comic universe, large and diverse, filled with just about any type of character from any type of pulp genre, and they shared and interacted in the same universe. You had a Martial Arts character named Shang Chi living in the same world as the cosmic space fantasy Silver Surfer who fought against the supernatural thriller Dracula who appeared in the socially conscious ...

To the Limit: An Air Cav Huey Pilot in Vietnam28 reviews
Tom A. Johnson

Potomac Books Inc., 2006

Excellent
This is the best book about Vietnam helicopter piloting that I have ever read. Mr Johnson makes you feel as if you are sitting next to him in the cockpit of a Huey. I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in helicopters or the Vietnam experience.

Sweetness: The Courage and Heart of Walter Payton3 reviews
Tom Fantle, Tom Johnson, ...

Triumph Books, 1999

A GREAT REMINDER OF A GREAT MAN.
"Sweetness: The Courage and Heart of Walter Payton" is a wonderful collection of quotes, stats, stories, and pictures illustrating the complete Payton. He was indeed one of the greatest running-backs of all time. What this book gives, that many don't, is a review of Walter's off-field perfomances. He was kind, caring, and loving to all. This book clearly shows that Walter was in all ...

A Field Guide to Reptiles & Amphibians of Eastern & Central North America (Peterson Field Guide Series)19 reviews
Roger Conant, Joseph T. Collins

Houghton Mifflin, 1998

Great guide
I have had this book for several years and absolutly love it. Not only is it nicely informative, it holds up well in the feild. I can not begin to count the number of times I have slipped (I generally keep it tucked in my waist band) in creeks on outings. After years of abuse, my cover is a worn, spine wrinkled and paged stained, but it's still solidly bound.

The new journalism2 reviews
Tom Wolfe, Edward Warren Johnson

Harper & Row, 1973

Sorry To See This Book Out of Print
I'm sorry to see that this book out of print. It's both an excellent collection of articles, and a "how-to" for budding writers on how to write in the style of the "new journalism". I'd love to see this book back in print, or even better, a revised edition, with more up-to-date articles (anyone for a collection of New Journalist articles on the 80s and 90s?) and perhaps a new assortment of ...

Ki-Gor: Jungle Lord2 reviews
Wild Cat Books, Peter Currane, ...

Lulu.com, 2007

Jungle Fun
If you care to escape to a world of jungle adventure, this book is your ticket. It contains new stories about Ki-Gor the Jungle Lord. Ki-Gor stories were orginally published in the Jungle Tales pulp magazine. Each of the stories has a slightly different take on the jungle lord. Hopefully this volume from Wild Cat Books will be the first of many volumes of new Ki-Gor stories.

Wait Skates (Rookie Reader)2 reviews
Mildred D. Johnson

Childrens Pr, 1983

child loves it!
My daughter LOVES this book. We found it at the library and she was able to read it by herself. When we moved cross country she searched it out at the library and now has monopolized it. I now have to buy this book so she can have it FOREVER! What is even greater is that she sees "no color" with this book as we all should!

The Art of Tom Lea: A Memorial Edition (Joe and Betty Moore Texas Art Series)1 review
Tom Lea

Texas A&M University Press, 2003

Historic and captivating images
Compiled by art historian Kathleen G. Hjerter, The Art Of Tom Lea: A Memorial Edition is a simply gorgeous coffee-table artbook that showcases the black-and-white as well as the color illustrations of Tom Lea's drawings and paintings. Images of the American West, World War II, and the enduring vibrancy of nature are palpable in these historic and captivating images. A brief but informative ...

QUEEN OF JUR1 review
Tom Johnson

Lulu.com, 2003

QUEEN OF JUR
For me, QUEEN OF JUR was a real-page turner. I loved the way the characters developed. For example, Monique, who stumbled into Jur by accident, impressed me as a spoiled brat in the beginning, but became a heroine in her own right. My husband had surgery the day I read the book. Tired as I was afterwards, I could not go to sleep until I finished it. QUEEN OF JUR is a must-read novel.

Super-Patriot: Liberty and Justice1 review
Keith Giffen, Tom Bierbaum, ...

Image Comics, 2002

Dave Johnson's hyperactive over-the-top masterpeice
First appearing in Erik Larson's Savage Dragon, Super-Patriot is a patriotic (as you might guess) hero from WWII. He grew a beard and a ponytail during the 60s and marched against the war. In the 90s he was crippled and left for dead by crazed villains and rebuilt as a gun-totting cyborg. In this book he takes on a secret conspiracy trying to take the world and meets two children he never ...

Thumbelina1 review
Hans Christian Andersen

Rabbit Ears, 1991

Beautifully illustrated, classic fairy tale
This book has beautiful watercolor with pen and ink paintings. I collect children's books for their illustrations and love the painting style of illustrator, David Johnson. The story is a classic by Hans Christian Anderson and has been published many times in various forms, but the illustrations make this book special. Nicely done.

Creative Writing Mfa Handbook: A Guide for Prospective Graduate Students (Revised & Updated)54 reviews
Tom Kealey

Continuum, 2008

It's all about the funding and the time to write
Everyone considering an advanced degree in creative writing should read this book. The evaluations of individual programs aren't all that important -- what's more important is the way Kealey lays out the whole MFA process: what to look for in schools, what the application process is like, and how to make the most of your time once you finally get in. Kealey doesn't have an agenda, he has a ...

Foghorn Outdoors: California Wildlife1 review
Tom Stienstra

Avalon Travel Publishing, 2000

Bobcats, Bears, and Bigfoot. A Fun Wildlife Reference.
Last weekend my wife and I were hiking near Green Valley Lake in the San Bernardino Mountains. With sunset just an hour away, we were hurrying along the trail but rounding a corner we stopped dead in our tracks. Not 30 yards from us was a bobcat which of course took off in the opposite direction as soon as we saw it. Wildlife encounters like these are treasured moments and we feel blessed to ...

Tales of Masks & Mayhem1 review
Tom Johnson, Will Murray, and others

Mystic Toad, 2006

Terrific novel...
***** Anyone who enjoyed the old comics, television shows, and movies about gangsters, masked adventurers, masked heros, and lots of bullets blazing will be in heaven with this exciting anthology. Seven stories, edited by award winning author K.G. McAbee, are together in one thick novel for you to enjoy over and over. Though you will not find Batman, the Lone Ranger, or the Phantom, you WILL ...

Caring Is What Counts, No. 5 (Tale from the Care Bears)1 review
Ward Johnson

Parker Brothers, 1983

Caring is what Counts (Tale from the Care Bears)
This was one of my favorite books as a child. At one time I had the entire collection, but somehow they magically disappeared over time. This would be a great collection to have once again. This book is essential to the collection. I remember reading this book night after night until I had the entire book down by heart. Truely a work of art.

The Art & Science of Pitching7 reviews
Tom House, Gary Heil, ...

Coaches Choice Books, 2006

A Good Book for Everybody...Not just High School Kids
I wouldn't go as far as saying you can find most of the information in this book on the website. That's not the case at all. You can find a little bit of the information from this book ont the website but not very much. This book presents the pitching information in a very simple format making it very easy to find whatever you are looking for. It includes drills to correct many of the problems ...
