very good book for anyone new to perl
I recommend this book to anyone who is new to perl. The only thing I thought could have been better though was add more examples after each chapter. But other than that the book explains the basics very good.

It is difficult to study perl using only this book.
It is difficult to study perl using only this book. Learning perl is the best way to study perl. This book should be a reference of perl. And there are many examples on the Net. You can use these examples to modify for your purpose. Sometimes, you should study how to debbug perl.

A must have
If you are beginner to expert, this helps with simple methods that are tried and true. I find it most helpful in giving me ideas of how to address problems far beyond the scope of the book. Sometimes just simple reminders of cookbook methods stimulates thoughts in orthogonal directions that yield the best solutions to customer problems.

O'Reilly, we thank you again. The new Perl CD ...

Awesome learning tool
This informal "bible" of Perl programming is an easy read for experienced programmers AND has a great index for reference. Walls and Christiansen team up well for us advanced beginners by welcoming us into the Club and giving us the straight scoop in a coherent structure.

Perl for Win32 People
I know this book has been bashed by some of the Amazon reviewers. However, I think the book has a particular audience (no surprise by the title): new Perl developers who are not from a UNIX background. It succeeds for that audience. I love the O'Reilly books on Perl, and this book is written by the most influential people in Perl (apart from Larry). I come from a UNIX background, I still found ...
