A GREAT business gift idea
An easy flowing read, this book is fun AND interesting. Anybody with an interest in the Civil War and involved in business will really enjoy this book(it would make a GREAT client gift). Wether anyone can apply the lessons to their life\business is up to them, but it is a flat joy to read. The tying of the characturistics from the Generals to the business leaders makes it doubly fun. Tom ...

A definite must for Guitar Lovers
I purchased this as an addition to the Strat Chronicles. I have already several books on Guitar Amps and tube amps in particular, as well as several books focusing on Fender. This is such a great book historically, it offers such a breadth of information and can offer long-long hours or reading and viewing enjoyment. Not to forget the excellent CDs with great music from all the beloved tube ...

Handy, convenient and helpful
I bought this guide and the Rick Steves book to plan my trip to Dublin. Both were very helpful, but I left Rick's book at home because Lonely Planet has GLBT info in it and has better maps. I used the maps a lot, both to find my way and also to get back on track when I got lost. A lot of the prices for things quoted in the book had gone up, but that's to be expected. I highly recommend both ...

Great book. Great fun!
This is a very well researched and well written book. All of Tom Wheeler's guitar and amp books are terrific. I also have the companion Fender Amp book which is a "must have" for enthusiasts and collectors.

Highly recommended for dedicated guitarists.
This numbered limited edition may not reach all audiences but it provides an excellent survey of the PRS guitar built by Smith for a range of famous players. Gorgeous full-page color photos abound as do engrossing technical explanations of the guitar's development and history. Chapters covering construction techniques are particularly involving. Highly recommended: any avid guitar player who ...
Mr. Lincoln's T-Mails

The E-Mail of the Civil War
My interest crept up on me, as I read this book. The focus upon the t-mails alone, initially gave me the sense that the author's choice of direction could become too narrow. But, in Lincoln's own words, as he dealt with his general problem, it becomes clear what a great insight into Lincoln's thinking this approach reveals. Lincoln's management skills, his understanding of human nature, and his ...

More than a reference book or fan tribute.
I have a half dozen books on the Fender company and this is by far the best. The typical vintage guitar book serves two functions. It gives information on the history of the instrument - guides to production dates, etc. In addition there are usually lots of pictures for lovers of vintage instruments to salivate over ("guitar porn" as I've seen it described before). This book delivers in ...

Great Technician Review
This book is as advertised, a book written from the technicians viewpoint, with clear simple explanations and examples. It does not get bogged down in useless overcalculations, but keeps the math simple and to the point. The important change in this book is the way it explains the operations of components, circuitry, etc in a new easier to understand way.

entertaining reference book
As a music store owner, musician, and collector, I find this book indespenible. We've worn out several copies over the years. It's as complete a reference as one could possibly expect, and fairly fun to just sit and browse through.

The only guidebook you need (just add a detailed Muni bus route map and you are set for weeks of fun)
I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to guidebooks. I don't believe that there is one-size-fits all guidebook, and when I travel, I get an arsenal of books and select the top three to use on the road. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that I needed no other guidebook to San Francisco! As a general rule, Lonely Planet guides are the most compact and info-packed books on the market, and ...

Great Book on Poker Personalities
I received this book with the compliments of Cardsmith publishing. I am in Iraq and was looking for some good poker books. I read the book in two days! This book was very interesting and sparked my interest in several other poker personalities like Amarillo Slim, Unger, Moss, etc. Very entertaining. In addition, Dana Smith's interviews with the final table participants were very well done. ...

"Shoestrings" - excellent read but too much missing!
As usual, Lonely Planet have attacked this project with vigour and research and produced a comprehensive guide to the Middle East. However, as is the problem with the "Shoestring" editions, a vast amount has to be left out, an enormous of amount of information must be precised in order to produce a managable, helpful guide for a region. Local knowledge of an area is vital to ensure that the ...
