The Idea of Race (Hackett Publishing Co.)
Robert Bernasconi
Hackett Publishing Co.
, 2000
An ideal set of readings to introduce the study of the concept of race. In the first section, pre-20th century works are chronologically arranged to indicate the historical development of the idea of race with representative articles by the influential thinkers who held polygenetic, monogenetic, degeneracy, climatic, and early mixed-race theories. The remaining section offers classic 20th century sources that both reiterate and contest ideas of ...

Very Good for What You Pay
The other reviewer gave the book only one star because of how dark the artwork is, but I didn't find it as distracting as he did. The artwork is very good and I really loved the style of the characters, especially the way faces were drawn. Yes, the artwork is dark, but I beleive that the volume is worth the amount I paid. The book is a black, white, and gray toned version of the original color ...

Watchmen it ain't
Now, I enjoyed 2 of the 3 Rob Zombie movies, Not too big on his music. But the man does have talent. I originally picked-up El Superbeasto, cause of a buy 3 get 1 free deal. I was expecting a vanity mediocre story, such as the Virgin line. Okay stories, nothing great, just you're average comic book. Well, was I wrong. This is very much a Rob Zombie creation, T&A, witty and cliched one-liners. It ...

Just right for us
My son is in kindergarten and is an advanced reader for his class. Still, this book would have been too advanced for him except that he knows the movie so well and he is so interested in Anakin Skywalker that he can understand the book on his own pretty well. It's just at his level and this book has got him so excited about reading on his own that he is practically unstoppable now. It's not great ...

I like these guys, always trying to figure out why. In a gaming session they are a big help as they can give insight into the enemy. They are a little weird, but it only makes gametime more fun.

Good art + Orignal, Strong story = good, entertaining TPB
In the comic world, alternate universes are something that seem to draw in fans only and no outsiders or casual readers. For a while, alternative universe stories were the rarity, happening in an annual issue or one shot series. Now days, the original comic house, DC, has its Elseworlds and Marvel is slowly but confidently adding books by the quarter that take well known heroes and place them ...

readable and with alot of information
This is a very good textbook, it is non-technical and very user-friendly. I would describe it as 'comparative historical demography'. The book has a lot of graphs but I have no recollection of ever seeing a single formula, although it does discuss the methods used to collect and process their data. It is a nice mix of demographic theory, case studies and methodology discussions. Even though ...

Creepy Read
I liked the movie Halloween III. I thought the story was original and inventive. Plus, Tom Atkins was cool as Dr. Challis. Im not biased or anything. Movie aside, the book was very good. The story even takes a few detours from the movie which I found enjoyable. The Myerless movie was Marvelous. The book follows suit. Thumbs up for Jack Martin.
