the best Asperger's book I've read!
My son was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome two years ago. Of the 5-6 books devoted to Asperger's which I have read, this book is by far the BEST! It is very readable and easy for the layperson to understand and digest. Issues that were barely mentioned in other AS reference books were given time and space in the OASIS book.

Good for girls
Many books written about disability are often taken from or about boys experiences, and girls have not yet got on the radar in many areas. I speak from experience as I have a daughter with AS. She is now 22 y.o and I have just discovered this. Not through lack of searching for information, (and misdirection from 'professionals) but by discovering literature written by Tony Attwood et al. ...

An Excellent Resource for Understanding Complicated Children
This is one of the best books that I have read to help me understand not only my own complicated child but many of the boys and girls that I have taught over the years. Martin Kutscher and the other contributing writers do an excellent job explaining the characteristics and challenges of a variety of common syndromes like ADHD, Aspergers, LD, etc. The authors show readers how to help children ...

Start Here
This is the first book I read on Asperger's, and I am glad that it was. Tony Attwood is one of the leading experts on Asperger's. He really gets it and doesn't try to fit an Asperger child into a nt understanding of the world, but goes to the Asperger world. It has really helped me understand myself and my children better. Well done! I can't wait to see more from him.

Great for spouses of Aspies
Finally! A book full of people that understand what it is like to live with and love someone on the spectrum. As the wife of an AS husband, this is so refreshing. Learning more about AS really helped our marriage. I am always so surprised to hear the inevitable people on the spectrum complaining that they will not change or learn at all - I guess they're perfect. Both the NT partner and the ...

Great insight to the AS mind!
This is a great book. It's funny and charming and honest. I love the bluntness that Kevin exhibits (even if we're just going to attribute it to AS.) For example: S: Darling, why won't you marry me? K: Because you might have an aberration and I might want to get rid of you. If we were married I would have to give you half my stuff, and I wouldn't want to do that. Ha ha ha! Awesome.

Let's Propose a Toast to Dr. Tony Attwood!
This is a much needed work about autism and how autistic behaviors affect people of all ages. I like the way Dr. Attwood has explained autism and its related behaviors in adults. Dr. Attwood is a leading expert and authority on autism/Asperger's Syndrome. Autism and its related condition Asperger's Syndrome are neurobiological conditions that affect sensory processing and integration as ...

Bless Tony Attwood! This is a Godsend!
This is another work that deserves a place of honor. Dr. Attwood does a sterling job of helping people with autism/Asperger's (a/A) decode facial expressions and identify and discuss feelings. Asperger's (AS) is a neurobiological condition that affects sensory integration, processing and communication. People on the a/A spectrum lack inuitive knowledge of "being able to adopt viewpoints from ...

Designed to help couples where only ONE is an "aspie"
Many people around the world have found difficulties in a Asperger's marriage (if only one of the couple has it). This book identifies by specific example how the differences of thought processing and outlook on life can lead to total lack of communication and understanding between two well meaning individuals who actually do love each other. Gisela and Chris write from their own personal ...

Asperger's Understood, Applied for Adolescents
This is a great Asperger's book for counselors, family and especially teenagers. It covers the whole spectrum of symptoms and treatment and focuses on the sexual questions that a teenager or young adult might not feel free to discuss. It is respectful of their natural sexuality and the problems that may arise out of their inability to find release for their sexual desires. It is a reassuring ...

Good Book, Read Avon: A terrible Aspect Too
This is a good book, interesting tone, concludes the series well while nicely revealing some vulnerability in Avon's character and his ongoing domination by the "fairer sex". If you can, also read Paul Darrow's own book Avon: A Terrible Aspect too. i*(-A-)

Lifesaver / Marriage Saver
I am married to an Aspie. I've read many books on this subject. So far, this one is helping *me* with my marriage. The other books helped me to understand the Aspie, but this one is helping me with my reactions to him. This book is written in layman's terms, and in story form which makes it easy for me to understand. I recommend this book highly.
