Good college textbook
There's not really much to say other than it's a pretty good book to use for an English class. A lot of great short stories and poems by brilliant authors including Hemingway, Hughes, Ellison, Frost, etc.

Literature for Composition: Essays, Fiction, Poetry, and Drama (8th Edition)
This book was a requirement for a Literature in Society class. This book is very expensive in my opinion. The stories, poems, and plays inside of the book are wonderful and eye-opening. Before each story, poem, or play there is a short biography about each author. I particularly enjoy those. It helped me most times to know where the author may have been coming from with his or her writing.

Great Contemporary Anthology, Teaching Tool
As a university theatre professor, I find this one of the most comprehensive, useful drama anthologies out there. A wonderful introduction to a wide range of plays, with pertinent "windows" into production aspects of the plays, so students can understand them not only as literature but as blueprints for performance.
