In conjunction with the Barnett, Cox, and O'Cull book on embedded C in AVR, I felt this book was quite useful actually. I brought to it a rusty knowledge of microcontrollers (like pics and the 8051) and this helped to both refresh me and introduce me to the AVR peripheral toolset. Great book for the beginner!
I knew nothing about the AVR when I bought this book. I just picked some books to start learning and WOW! It got me up to speed so that now I can program an AVR by myself. The only think I would have liked to see was more explaination of each of the codes used. But you can't get everything in one book.
