Heaven's Banquet: Vegetarian Cooking for Lifelong Health the Ayurveda Way32 reviews
Miriam Kasin Hospodar

Plume, 2001

Heaven's Banquet
Since getting Heaven's Banquet, I have thrown out many of my old cookbooks. The recipes are simple but very tasty and the introduction about food preparation, mind-body types is easy to read, makes great sense and is a foundation for better nutritional eating. I cannot recommend this book highly enough so stock up the crisper and go vegetarian - it really is the best way to eat

Textbook of Ayurveda5 reviews
Vasant Lad

Ayurvedic Press, 2001

A must have for the Ayurvedic student!
Thank you Vasant Lad for this great tool that helps one unlock the truth called Ayurveda. Vasant Lad has presented a true text book that will become a companion of the modern day Ayurvedic student. Normally if one was to source concise information on the fundamentals of Ayurveda then one had the difficult task of studying the translations of Caraka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita and Vagbhata Samhita. ...

The Complete Book of Ayurvedic Home Remedies29 reviews
Vasant Lad

Three Rivers Press, 1999

Wonderful authentic healing methods
I have already used a few of these and can't believe the difference. It's true ayurveda too, not the other stuff that is sometimes mixed in, just tried and true Ayurveda to help yourself, your family or future patients for more serious students. I think this should be in every household actually.

Ayurveda: The Science of Self-Healing8 reviews
Vasant Lad

Lotus Press, 1984

excellent book
I had the privilage of being treated by Dr. Lad as well as going to several clases he gives at the Ayurvedic institute in Albuquerque NM. The book is a wonderful aid in trying to understand and identify health and disease. You have to be able to understand that "western" medicine is not the answer for everything and that in many cases it will eventually make you even sicker. What do you prefer, ...

David Frawley

Lotus Press, 1999

A Great book
This is the first book on this subject. I am a serious yoga practicioner and so far have never seen anything like this: so well connecting Ayurveda medicine knowledge with especially Hatha and Kundalini yoga. You can see that the auther is an adept, informing us about the working of prana in the ...

Very new to this
I get the feeling that this book gives you a good start in regards to Ayurveda. This book has a lot of information and great recipes that are broken down into Vata, Pitta & Kapha. If you're looking at a recipe for Pitta and you're a Kapha, it tells you at the end of the recipe what you can substitute OR if you should avoid it. This book also gives you Dual-Dosha recommendations. It's easy ...

Textbook of Ayurveda, Volume Two: A Complete Guide to Clinical Assessment2 reviews
Vasant Lad

The Ayurvedic Press, 2007

You can't go wrong with Dr. Lad
I have this textbook as well as volume 1 and the minute volume 3 is released, later in the year, I will have that one too. This book is really great, straight and true Ayurveda with no "extra stuff" and all the knowledge Dr. Lad generally packs into his books. They are also easy to read which makes learning Ayurveda easier.

Absolute Beauty: Radiant Skin and Inner Harmony Through the Ancient Secrets of Ayurveda42 reviews
Pratima Raichur, Mariam Cohn

Harper Paperbacks, 1999

Absolutely Beautiful
I've only ever written one review before, but felt compelled to do so after reading this book. I'm not kidding when I say it's transformed my skin. I've struggled with adult acne for years, and my skin is the clearest ever - and best of all, I'm not spending $$$ on skin care. I love the fact that everything I'm using on my face I could eat! I'll be honest too, I'm not following everything ...

The Ayurveda Encyclopedia: Natural Secrets to Healing, Prevention, & Longevity5 reviews
Swami Sadashiva Tirtha

Sat Yuga Press, 2007

A beginners perspective
As a recent discoverer of Ayurveda, I have purchased and read a number of books on Ayurveda from many of the well known teachers and scholars of the topic. These have all been fine but generally very narrow in their focus. There are other publicatons I have chosen to leave on the shelf that appear to be folks just "jumping on the bandwagon". Happily I have just purchased the "AYURVEDA ...

Book Of Ayurveda4 reviews
Judith Morrison

Fireside, 1995

Excelent Introduction
This is often the first book I loan to friends who are interested in learning about Ayurveda(I own two copies!). The photographs and illustraitons flesh out concepts that are hard to grasp with words alone. Holistic in its approach, this excelent introduction also contains a good deal of information that can be put into immediate use. More than worth the price.

Ayurveda: A Life of Balance7 reviews
Maya Tiwari

Healing Arts Press, 1994

Get Your Life In Balance
I disagree with a previous reviewer that this book is mainly a cookbook. I find that it has MUCH more to offer than that. I am currently in a 200 hour yoga teacher training course, and this book is required reading for me. Tiwari goes very much into the philosophy behind Ayurveda and the doshas, yet explains it in a way that the average reader can understand. She gives the best ...

This is an EXCELLENT book. Abstract and very deep truths are lucidly conveyed without sacrificing intricacy or impact. If you are interested in psychology, spirituality, or Ayurveda, this is a wonderful, unique book. Dr. Frawley is extremely thorough and brings much integrity to his work. This book may be a bit much for some, but those truly interested in furthering their awareness will find many ...
