Buy the Black and decker Home improvement book instead
I was expecting this book to "speak" to dummies. But unfortunately through out the book they kept bringing up stuff that had not been explained before. There is too much verbage and not enough step by steps or pictures. As for humor, all you have are the cartoons. The Black and decker book starts from the basics, shows each and every tool that is required to do the job, shows plenty of pictures ...

It really works!
Even though this book is meant for kids, I bought it anyway. I'm 16 and I really want to be an animator when I'm older, and surprisingly this book really helped me learn to draw all the "Little Mermaid" characters on my own, and helped me get a basic grasp of the cartoon anatomy. I have all the books in this series and I LOVE them all, they really helped my cartooning skills & they're fun to use ...

this is a great dictionary
I bought this for my 9 year old daughter. She actually enjoys using it. It has a few pictures, but also has a lot of entries in it. I like using it myself. The definitions are easy to understand. I have two younger children so I think this dictionary will get a lot of use.

Barnhart Concise Dictionary of Etymology
This is an excellent rendition on words and their meaning. Accompanying each word is the date of use, definition in the preferred mode and multiple terms defined. Sample terms are: o gimbals-connecting links (1577) o gitney-nickel o mint-coin (1423) This volume would be very valuable for writers, editors, students and a wide spectrum of the general public.
The Future of Wisdom: Toward a Rebirth of Sapiential Christianity
Bruno Barnhart
Continuum
, 2007
This is the most ambitious effort so far to communicate the depth and power of the Christian sapiential tradition, or "wisdom Christianity," and the promise of its dramatic rebirth in our time. While much of the writing of Rahner, von Balthasar, Merton, Bede Griffiths, Abhishiktananda, Leclercq, De Lubac, and Odo Cassel is of this kind, theologians have been slow to connect the dots and to awaken to the organic gestalt of sapiential theology in ...

Clear, easy to read, this one is a winner!
My fourth grade daughter struggles to "look up" words in a dictionary. The small print and cluttered format frustrated her to tears. Then we stumbled upon this treasure. The clean typeface, blue colored entry words, and generous use of white space, made this dictionary easy to use. We gave a copy to the LD classroom teacher at her school. The teacher was thrilled - students find this ...

This one scores big
It's always football season in the South, and anyone interested in the game and its pre-eminent spot in Southern culture will find this book indispensable. The author, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's college football editor and ESPN commentator, is the nation's leading expert on the subject, and he doesn't miss anything. There are lists and legends, people and places. And the varied ...

A Promising Introduction
I was looking for a book on Chinese painting with plenty of illustrations. In the Amazon reviews this book was praised for it's ample examples of paintings. I ordered this book and the pictures did not let me down. But the essays written by five experts were a surprising bonus of enjoyable informative commentaries providing concise but comprehensive introductions to painters and their works. ...

Cartooning Basics is an award-winning, step-by-step cartooning guidebook for doodlers age 7 and up. Not bad and it's actually about Zombies
I picked this up in a used store and read it over the weekend. It has no pretension about being more than what it is, an entertaining zombie story. Some reviews gripe about the preacher subplot but I didn't mind the quick resolution to it. After all, it's all about the zombies. I enjoyed it much more than the Wellington book (Monster Planet), which was not really about zombies at all but more of ...

Dissapointed, but Still Great
This is a great book! When I first saw it I thought it was too small. It doent have as many pages as I thought it would have and it doesnt have as many characters as I had hoped, but I still went streight to drawing and prodused a good looking Pocahontas. I recomend this book to anyone who loves to draw!

Len Barnhart: Great author
I read Len's first book, "Reign of the Dead". What a fantastic read!!! The second is even better. It's easy to relate to the characters. The zombies are real zombies, not the intelligent, free-thinking kind some other authors try incorporate into their so-called zombie novels. And the fact that Len's novel takes place in my hometown scares the hell out of me!!! A+++++, Len!!

Thorough, colorful and fun to read
I purchased this dictionary to replace the Scholastic Children's Dictionary that often did not have most of the words my 5th grader needed to look up for school. Adult dictionaries had the words but were intimidating and the definitions typically did not help her understand the word. When we got this one, I had to remind her that she was looking something up, because she found it interesting just ...

Exceptional Story About University Life and Top-Level Athletics
When I joined the University of Georgia faculty in 1969, I kept hearing about Vince Dooley, the university's very young head football coach. The previous year, he had led the team to the Southeastern Conference Championship, resulting in a Sugar Bowl bid. Clearly, Dooley had assumed leadership of a nearly defunct football program and restored a degree of glory quickly. This book details ...

I love this calendar because it actually gives the Maya day for each day of 2009. It also has a countdown to 2012 and cool facts about Maya history. More than just pretty pictures, this calendar is a tool for understanding an ancient way of thinking. The associated website provides even more information and let's you calculate your birthday in the Tzolkin, or sacred count of days.

Penetrating synthesis by a modern patriarch
Fr. Bruno combines a lifetime of scholarship with the mind of a scientist (he was a chemist) and the devotion of a man of much prayer. The sense is one of giving honor and glory to our Creator by revealing the deep mysteries of Christianity. Deep only due to our ignorance and inability to synthesize a cohesive vision of Reality and Life caused by disputive forces. Father Bruno uses the form ...
