WELL WRITTEN AND RIGHT ON TARGET FOR KIDS 5-10
I have been reading the IVY & BEAN series aloud to my 6.5-year-old twins (and their 3-year-old baby sister) and they love it. We are on book 2 and both the text and illustrations are so well done. Bravo to the publisher, the writer, and the illustrators for so elegantly interweaving text and art and dialogue and getting the target audience with no talking down, no bad grammar, no brattiness. . . ...

Amanda Bean's Amazing Dream: A Mathematical Story
This is one of a genre of books wherein the beauty and elegance of a mathematical concept is revealed to the main character in a dream (others notables inlude MATH CURSE by Jon Scieszka and THE NUMBER DEVIL by Hans Magnus Enzensberger). This book is a marvelous way to integrate literature with mathematics and I have found it useful to aid in the introduction of multiplication to students in my ...

Great Friendship Lessons
My daughter loves all the Ivy & Bean stories. These are great characters. They teach an important lesson about friendship and how very different people can still be the best of friends.

Good stuff
Been buying from Steve since he started at the market. His beans are very expensive, and worth it. He is generous with his advice, has a great website, and blog. The recipes are uniformly good...some just great...and the advice almost like him in person. I bought a good pot and cook the stuff three times a week and never tire of it. You can get his beans online, and not be anything but ...

Great Bean Recipes
A simple little book, no frills or pictures, but surprisingly useful. Divided into four main categories--soups, salads, entrees, and sides--each recipe features beans, peas, and/or lentils. Many of the recipes are vegetarian/vegan, as well as some good recipes incorporating meat. The recipes aren't fancy or gourmet, but they're easy to prepare, healthy, and above all, quite tasty. If the book had ...

"Nothing could make it better!"
My eight year old discovered Ivy & Bean over the summer as part of a summer reading program. It was a total struggle to get her to read. Once she read Ivy and Bean she was willing to read anything I put in front of her if the reward at the end was another Ivy and Bean book. We just purchased this volume and she read it all through dinner, even telling her sister she was too busy to play video ...

Ivy and Bean is the best!
I am seven years old and I love Ivy and Bean! It is funny and easy to read. People say it teaches bad things, but I know better than to do that. It is also like my life because I have older brothers who are eleven and going through a stage. I think you should give Ivy and Bean a try.

Nutritional info included!
We love this book! It has some of the best recipes that we have ever made! It is quite extensive and has broadened our tastes into grains and beans that we have never even heard of before. Finding some of the ingredients was a little tricky at first, then we started to let our fingers do the walking and had better luck finding some of the odd ingredients at the smaller ethnic stores and health ...

I laughed, then I cried, and then I laughed again
I heard Orson being interviewed on the Dennis Miller radio show and after hearing about his book, I just had to read it. I was blessed that I did. Orson's writing style is wonderfully fresh. I laughed out loud and cried moments later. I felt like I had a lot in common with the way Orson came about his belief's in God and Jesus.

I've always been a fan but now I have such deep respect for her.
I've enjoyed the author as a TV cook, her humor and style as one of the Two Fat Ladies was delightful. I own many of her books and have enjoyed both the cookbooks and the country books. This book about her life was a suprise to me as I had no clue she was from an abusive home. I have such respect for her. In this age of whiny delicate little flowers (BLECCH!) I admire her strength of character ...

Very interesting and suprising
I'm 8 years old and I like the Clarice Bean books. In this book Clarice Bean is upset because her best friend Betty Moody moved to California for her dad's job. Clarice misses her a lot. Other things start to go wrong like a new kid named Clem Hansson is sitting in Betty Moody's seat and Clarice doesn't like her that much. There are some problems with Clarice's house and they need to get it ...

Great Pick for Young Readers
It seems like all Clarice Bean can do lately is get into trouble. She doesn't mean to--it just happens. Of course, much of her trouble comes in the form of her teacher, Mrs. Wilberton. Every time Clarice spells a word wrong or lets her mind wander, Mrs. Wilberton is there to catch her. A lot is happening at school. Clarice and her best friend, Betty Moody, are in the school play, and Clarice ...

5 star Fun Informative book
We are a bean eating family, where beans are consumed 3-4 times per week in some form. We used to go to the Bean Festival down in Tracy, CA so we never get tired of eating or learning about beans. Which makes this book one anyone who loves food archeology, or bean cuisines should at least read if not own. No it doesn't cover everything about beans, but it covers enough to make it worth a ...

All about beans, beans and more beans
This is another favorite book by Rita Bingham that is full of information as well as recipes. Like her other books, this is a compendium of healthful cooking. Mrs. Bingham recommends a grain mill that I have on my wishlist for now. But happily I discovered a COFFEE mill at Sam's Club for $30 that grinds what I need, with very little mess. If you are on a budget but want to get started you can ...

I never thought bean dishes could be this tasty
I have never been a bean lover but am a vegetarian. So when I discovered More Easy Beans and found so many great recipes, especially for appetizers, I was hooked. I truly believe this is the best bean book I have ever used. Some recipes call for meat, but of course, everyone has a friend who likes red meat. What I really found helpful was the recipes all use a can of beans or allow you to make ...

Sneaky, sneaky!
I was reading a funny, entertaining book to my daughters, and would you believe it? By mistake, they learned something about math! The characters are funny and naive. My girls had fun predicting the problems that Ralph and Flora kept getting into, all related to the seemingly simple task of dividing up 13 beans. Very clever and very funny. Nice illustrations, too.
