Where the Wild Things Are365 reviews
Maurice Sendak

HarperCollins Publishers, 1988

Imaginative and Amazing Illustrations
The illustrations in this book really caught my eye. My favorite one was when all the wild things were howling at the moon. I enjoyed how the text stretches over a few pages and keeps the reader interested.

The Lorax (Unabridged)130 reviews
Seuss

audible.com

I guess I'm a tree-hugger
Okay, so this is probably as preachy as Dr. Suess gets, and it just might get on the nerves of some people, but the tree hugger in me salutes him for it, even as he paints a grimmer picture of environmental destruction than Al Gore ever thought of. Even so, it's clearly Suess with his imaginative worlds and funny characters. It's a solemn book of warning that it pretty darn good into ...

Stomp your feet!!!
What a treat to buy this for a friend's baby. My youngest child LOVED this book because as others have pointed out, it is fantastic! Just reading the words results in a great rhyme and makes you dance. You can't help it. Babies love it, toddlers love it, and parents love to read it, even the 4,999th time. It makes everyone smile. We wore the cover off and had to buy multiple copies. What a great ...

Awesome book!
I LOVED this book! The first book in this series (A Great and Terrible Beauty) was a little slow, but this one is absolutely captivating! Gemma is easy to like and easy to realte to. The story is interesting, the descriptions are beautiful, and the characters are complex and wonderfully developed. This is one of the best books I've read in a long time. I wasn't sure after finishing the first ...

How Do Dinosaurs Say Good Night?128 reviews
Jane Yolen

Scholastic, 2001

Buy this book in hardcover, not as a board book!
We got a couple of books in the Dinosaurs series as board books from my coworker, and overall my daughter (22 months at the time of this review) liked them, but the hardcovers are simply gorgeous with large, detailed and brilliant pictures. I got this book in the library, and Anna wanted to read it several times in a row (not to mention every night since then). I plan to assemble the whole series ...

Good Night Gorilla Gift Box172 reviews

Putnam Juvenile, 2003

A Fun and Beautiful Bedtime Book
In this beautifully-illustrated bedtime book, the gorilla steals the key from the zookeeper, letting out all the animals, who follow the zookeeper home to bed. The story is cute, but what I really loved about this book was the great illustrations. The colors pop out at you from the page and capture your attention. This book is one of my new bedtime favorites! I can't wait to read it to my ...

Great book for toddlers!
My son received this book on his first birthday, and 3 months later was a die-hard fan :) I loves the illustrations and the cadence of the words. It's the book he brings to us when he wants to be read to. Highly recommended for your toddler!

Time for Bed139 reviews
Mem Fox

Red Wagon Books, 1997

Sweet bedtime reading for toddlers
We recently bought this book for our 15-month old and he loves it. The illustrations are lovely, the narrative is sweet and melodic, and it is short enough to be a book that holds his attention start to finish even when he is tired. A lovely find!

The power of creative visualization
I recommend this book. It portrays how all that we create in the world comes from our imagination, in which the possibilities are limitless.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas (Unabridged)93 reviews
Seuss

audible.com

A Holiday Classic
The holiday season would be incomplete without the annual reading of this delightful tale that introduces the little ones and many of the big ones too, to the residents of Whoville. A timeless tale where one will meet Little Cindy Lou Who, Max the Dog, and the Grinch, whose heart is two sizes too small. In the end, the Grinch is not the only one that discovers the true meaning of the holiday. ...

Destined to be a Classic
What a heartwarming story with such vivid and friendly illustrations. The rhythm is wonderful and the rhymes aren't forced. The story flows and gives the reader ample opportunity to try out different voices for all of bear's friends.

Andrew Henry's Meadow61 reviews
Doris Burn

San Juan Publishing, 2005

A place for children.
My mother saved this book from my childhood. It was a favorite of mine. I liked to imagine a town where kids each got to be themselves. A place where they could really enjoy who they were without interference from adults or disapproving children. I would recommend this book for ages 8-11 years.

Big Red Barn (Spanish edition): El gran granero rojo79 reviews
Margaret Wise Brown

Rayo, 1996

Luv it!
If you like Good Night Moon, you will love this as well. I told my husband that when are girls are too big for bedtime stories, I will want him to read me these two books at bedtime. They are so soothing. My girls both love looking at the details of the pictures. This is a classic.

I Love You Stinky Face67 reviews
Lisa Mccourt

Scholastic, 2004

We love this book!
I bought this for my 3 year old son after reading it in our pediatrician's waiting room. My son thinks it's hilarious and it's one of his favorites. It helps show him that moms love their kids no matter what, while keeping his interest with its silliness.

Dinosaur's Binkit61 reviews
Sandra Boynton

Little Simon, 1998

Grab your own blankie and read along!
Sandra Boyton has really done it this time! Dinosaur's Binkit is my younger son's favorite book. Every page gives opportunity to open a new flap and touch different fabrics. It's funny and sweet. Soon, you'll be screaming, "I want my binkit!!!" right along with the words. Buy one now!

Caps for Sale (Unabridged)71 reviews
Esphyr Slobodkina

audible.com

Me and my 2.5 year old son love this book
This is a great book for kids, even young ones around 2.5 years old. It's an engaging story and my son loves the part where the man wakes up to find his hats gone, and looks up and sees all the monkeys wearing the hats! He asks me to read it everynight, and remembers the phrase "caps for sale."

Horton Hears a Who (Unabridged)63 reviews
Seuss

audible.com

A timeless masterpiece for children of all ages
Horton Hears a Who is a masterpiece. Often heralded as a book on friendship, it is much more than that. Theodor Seuss Geisel was an outspoken critic of Hitler and Mussolini, and Horton Hears a Who has been said to have been Geisel's call to support the fledgling democracy in Japan after World War II. But Horton is much more than that. Horton Hears a Who is a reminder of the importance of ...
