M.M. Kaye's The Ordinary Princess: Ordinary and Fantastic in Delightful Harmony
One may know the story of the servant girl who gets to go to the ball, the story of the beautiful girl that falls in love with the beast, the princess that is finally awakened by a kiss from a dashing prince. But, it is quite possible that one may go half of her life before ever hearing the story of another girl, a princess in fact, who was born once upon a time in a land called Phantasmorania. ...

The Best Spanish Reference Book for Middle to Advanced Speakers
This is a book that I have been searching for. Most of the books I have come across only give very "stiff-sounding" vocabulary and idioms. The author of this book seems to be someone similar to me in how I learned Spanish; 10 years of school and college and then going to Spanish speaking countries and dating Spanish women. He is very good at explaining a lot of things that are culture related. ...

Will get the next edition in addition to the copy I have
I got this book a couple of years ago and now am chess club presendent at my school chess club in 7th grade. I loaned it out so many times it is getting worn out. When I went to get a copy now I found out it is temporarily not in print because it is going to be made a new edition. I plan to get the new edition for the chess club. What I liked about this book is that it isn't a silly little ...

Excellent! More than I expected!
I am so glad I ordered this book. I have never ran nor did I like to run but way down deep inside I wanted to run a marathon. OK, I have had this book for two weeks and can not run four miles. That is four miles for someone who never ran anywhere. Great mental health.

The Easiest Way to Get Started
I bought this book some years ago, to see if I wanted to try amateur astronomy again. I had been given a department store telescope as a kid, and was discouraged by the fact that you really couldn't observe anything other than the moon with it. This book gave me the confidence to go out and buy a reasonably expensive telescope, and get it up and running with almost no assistance from anyone ...

Wonderful!
My 14-month old son runs to the bookshelf, grabs this book, and thrusts it in our direction to read to him over and over again - he just can't get enough of it! My husband and I have each read it to him dozens of times and happily we aren't bored of it either; the illustrations are excellent, and the story is creative and funny. I highly recommend this book.

Classic Book & the movie was a masterpiece
This book is a must-read for any child. When I was young I read lots of Jack London books and I also read the entire Walter Farley Black Stallion series. Walter Farley's books are written in a very simple style, easy for young readers to understand. The movie is a timeless classic & was so well done. Some children will find the movie slow (no talking during the whole island sequence) but if your ...

Allô. Do you like my hat?
This is my favorite book of all time. I can't recommend it highly enough. If the "dog party in the trees" doesn't make you weep with joy, I don't know what will. For the last forty years or so, I have been looking -- and I mean this literally, not figuratively -- for said party. That's a bit cracked, I know, but I just can't help myself.

A Book You'll Use Forever
I first used a copy of this book way back when Richard Hittleman had a PBS program on yoga. I've returned to this book on and off ever since. The yoga practice he teaches here is: 1) easy to do for anyone, regardless of fitness level or age. 2) presented in simple, daily, DO-able sequences. 3) nicely illustrated with photographs that show exactly how to do the postures. 4) supplemented ...

this book outshined the toys on christmas morning
This book was loved by my three nephews (one is 4 and the twins are 2). I was already their favourite aunt but I think I actually moved up a few notches on the scale with this one. On my one week stay with my sister, I read this book to my nephews at least once per day. The four year-old liked it so much that we performed a show with puppets for the whole family based on this book.

A timeless masterpiece for children of all ages
Horton Hears a Who is a masterpiece. Often heralded as a book on friendship, it is much more than that. Theodor Seuss Geisel was an outspoken critic of Hitler and Mussolini, and Horton Hears a Who has been said to have been Geisel's call to support the fledgling democracy in Japan after World War II. But Horton is much more than that. Horton Hears a Who is a reminder of the importance of ...

Bless you, Andy Field!
This should be the first book you buy if you need help with stats and SPSS. When I first began doing empirical research I knew almost nothing about statistics or SPSS, and had to learn virtually everything I needed to know about complex multivariate tests on my own. I had suffered through many of the relevant, canonical books before I happened upon Field. It was a V-8 moment. Not only does the ...

Sweet remiscence of small-town America
This was one of my favorites as kid. Then, sadly, I forgot about it until stumbling across it in the school library. It is once again one of my favorites. Cynics might roll their eyes at this tribute to good ol' days gone by, but I personally appreciate the nostalgia and the house with its subtle face parts is adorable. You feel so bad for the cute little house! It is also an observation at the ...

A Classic Must Read For All Kids
The Great Brain is one of the best all time books for boys ever written. In my humble opinion of course. The prose is engaging capturing the attention. The stories are exciting and compelling. The chapters are just the right length. And it has all the elements that young boys love from Cowboys and Indians to cops and robbers. What more could you ask for? But of course, looking back on my ...

Learning the tarot
Learning the tarot is a very simple yet informative for the beginner as the name suggests. What is extra about this book is exercises for the interpretation, which I found it to be fairly entertaining. The meaning of the card is well discuss but there is no reversal for this book and thus becomes a drawback of the handbook. Overall, this is a book for a beginner readers who wanted to gain an ...

Excellent early Kindergarten reading!
The series has been renumbered yet again. The new ISBN for the first set is 0439845009. Bob Books come in 5 sets on 3 levels, and they cover the fundamentals of reading through about half of the Kindergarten level, which is lower than either of the other programs. Each set contains 8-12 books for the child to read, with a line or two of text per page. Unlike many programs, there is little ...
